Fast Pen: Round 8 Steer Report
Former Resistol Rookie of the Year Billy Bob Brown breaks down the 2020 NFR Round 8 draw.

This will be the third run on this set of cattle from Round 2 and Round 5. Round 5 saw the fastest runs of the week, so look for Round 8 to speed up.

Luke Brown and Joseph Harrison: 580

This steer has great speed and steps left a little. Dustin Egusquiza ran him in Round 5 and got a barrier and leg. Chad Masters and Wesley Thorp made a 4.7-second run on him in Round 2.

Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan: 583

Cody Snow and Junior Nogueira were 4.0 to win second in the day money on this steer. Shay Carroll missed this steer in Round 2.

Kolton Schmidt and Hunter Koch: 560

Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan got a leg on this steer. He’s a good steer and steps right, so he could be really fast if they can make it work. Paden Bray roped a leg on this steer to be 10.6.

Jeff Flenniken and Tyler Worley: 837

Andrew Ward was 4.1 on this steer, and he’s down the middle and good. Cody Snow and Junior Nogueira were 14.3 on him in Round 2.

Nelson Wyatt and Levi Lord: 839

Clay Tryan was 3.7 with this steer. He’s down the middle and good. Jeff Flenniken and Tyler Worley were 10.2 on him in Round 2.

Erich Rogers and Paden Bray: 827

This is the steer Clay Smith and Jade Corkill were 3.6 on. This is the Hereford and the best steer in the pen. He’s straight and medium. Nelson Wyatt and Levi Lord ran him in Round 2 and were 4.5 to win third.

Chad Masters and Wesley Thorp: 836

Jeff Flenniken missed this steer. He was pretty sharp left the first time and middle the second time. Clay Tryan and Jake Long had him in Round 2 and were 5.3.

Charly Crawford and Logan Medlin: 513

Levi Simpson and Andrew Ward had this steer and he fought the chute pretty bad. They were 4.7, but this steer is great after he leaves. Kolton Schmidt and Hunter Koch missed him in Round 2.

Levi Simpson and Shay Dixon Carroll: 855

This one goes hard left. Schmidt missed him in Round 5. This is the steer who’s nose Chase Tryan hooked with his heel rope in Round 2.

Clay Tryan and Jake Long: 793

Look for Clay and Jake to connect fast. They have one that checks off when head rope hits, so it could be quick. This is the steer Colby Lovell took a no-time with thanks to an illegal head catch. He fights his head a little but he’s a good steer, right down the middle. This is the steer Jade Corkill missed in Round 2.

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins: 532

Chad Masters and Wesley Thorp ran this one in Round 5, and he stepped left and Chad broke out to be 5.0 + 10. This is the steer Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves won the day money on in Round 2.

Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves: 835

Dustin also has one that is true and sharp—he won’t go to this one, he will hang it on him. Charly Crawford and Logan Medlin made a 5.0-second run on him in Round 2.

Colby Lovell and Paul Eaves: 559

Erich Rogers and Paden Bray roped him in 5.0 in Round 5. He’s a good steer and down the middle. Luke Brown and Joseph Harrison got a leg on him to be 9.3.

Cody Snow and Junior Nogueira: 708

Charly ran this steer in Round 5, and Charly missed the barrier and roped him when he stepped right to be 6.3. Colby Lovell and Paul Eaves won second in Round 2 on this steer with a 4.4-second run.

Clay Smith and Jade Corkill: 750

Nelson Wyatt and Levi Lord took a no-time on the back side on this steer. He’s down the middle but he doesn’t start super sharp. Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins were 4.9 on him in Round 2. TRJ
