From the grass that’s more like glass, the long start and the implications for team ropers on the bubble, the 2025 Pendleton Round-Up is like a battleground.

One of the most anticipated rodeos of the year, Pendleton is nothing short of western as the team ropers are turf surfing Sept. 8-13, fighting not only for the prestigious win but also a spot at the NFR.

Young guns Brayden Schmidt and Jaydon Warner raked in $10,622 a man for the Pendleton Round-Up win Sept. 13, with a 19.1 on three head.

  • Wyatt Bray/Cashton Weidenbener
  • Chaz Kananen/Britt Newman
  • Dylan Hancock/Cole Clemons
  • Tyler Wade/Wesley Thorp
  • Andrew Ward/Jake Long
  • Houston Hull/Dayton Stafford
  • Luke Brown/Trey Yates
  • Jason Stewart/Casey McCleskey
  • Dustin Egusquiza/JC Flake
  • Shane Erickson/Andy Carlson
  • Brayden Schmidt/Jaydon Warner
  • Brenten Hall/Kaden Profili

Major bubble implications in Pendleton

Brenten Hall and Kaden Profilis NFR dreams can greatly be affected in today’s Pendleton short round. Hall finds him No. 21 in the world and $14,953.69 outside the Top 15, while Profili is No. 18 and $4,215.44 behind No. 15. A year ago, winning the average in Pendleton paid $9,868 a man; considering the rounds have paid more in 2025, it’s safe to assume the aggregate will, too. While Hall would still have some ground to make up in the world standings even with a Pendleton win, it would likely push Profili back inside the Top 15 but still in bubble territory. Hall and Profili are also on the outside of the Governor’s Cup currently, so the Pendleton Round-Up tour points could inch them closer to the top eight of the PRCA Playoff Series standings.

Luke Brown and Trey Yates are on the brink of breaking back into the Top 15. At No. 18 and 16, Brown is $8,385.49 behind No. 15, and Yates is $2,308.73. Despite being sixth in the average, not much time separates Brown and Yates from Hall and Profili at first in the average. A solid aggregate check could be enough to bring Brown right behind 15th and Yates inside the Top 15. But, more importantly, Brown and Yates are sure to pick up tour points today, and staying high in the average could secure them a spot in Sioux Falls. Brown and Yates sit ninth in the PRCA Playoff Series standings, and not even 100 points separates them from the top eight. Also in their favor, while the top eight qualify for Sioux Falls, anyone inside the top eight who finished in the top four in Puyallup opens up a spot for someone else in the standings to qualify. Currently, two guys ahead of Brown and Yates in the tour standings have already punched their tickets.

Not so bubbly but still a big deal

Right above Brown and Yates in the tour standings are Andrew Ward and Jake Long. Ward and Long have clawed their way to eighth and seventh, respectively, in the world and tour standings. Like Brown and Yates, thanks to Puyallup results, Ward and Long are currently in for Sioux Falls. But, with three other tour rodeos remaining, winning in Pendleton can set it in stone.

Reigning and back-to-back World Champions Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp aren’t on the world standings bubble, but they are on the Sioux Falls bubble. At No. 7 and 6 in the world, Wade and Thorp are on track for the 2025 NFR, but being able to rope for $50,000 in Sioux Falls wouldn’t hurt, either. Wade and Thorp are currently seventh and sixth in the PRCA Playoff Series standings, so they’re currently in for Sioux Falls but need to keep racking up the tour points to finalize their spots.
