5-year-old A Relentless Buzz came into the Texas Best Futurity already established as one of 2026’s highest-earning futurity head horses and added another $8,300 with Trevor Brazile for the 6-&-Under Heading.

Brazile and A Relentless Buzz started the show in Decatur with a 229.08 to win Round 1 and $1,000, then followed it with another round win at 228.97. They stayed near the top in Round 3 with a 228.81 for second before turning in their biggest score of the week when it mattered most: a 233.84 to win the short round.

That consistency is exactly what Brazile has come to expect from the 2021-model gelding.

“That horse, he’s just five, but he feels so much more mature,” Brazile said. “There’s a reason why that horse goes to the jackpots when we go—he’s just hard to falter. He’s so solid.”

With a strong Round 1 score already on the board, Brazile said there wasn’t much need to change his game plan as the day went on.

“Anytime you start off good, like he did in the first round, it’s just maintaining and just going and doing my job,” Brazile said. “There’s really nothing that I have to think about when I show that horse. There’re no buttons to push. You just go do your job because he’s getting so solid.”

Their 920.70 on four head finished 6.75 points ahead of Miles Baker and Cardi BRelentless, who were second with a 913.95 on four. The aggregate paid Brazile and A Relentless Buzz $7,300, bringing their Texas Best earnings to $8,300 when combined with the Round 1 check.

For Brazile, Texas Best also offered more than a chance to run more steers. With the futurities horses having some of the year’s biggest stages still ahead, he saw the Decatur futurity as a chance to evaluate where his herd is mentally and physically.

“It’s just a good temperature check because as you show these young horses more and more, they’ll show you new things where anxiety builds and stuff, and this is a good place to come and test that,” he said.

He also credited the cattle for giving the young horses an opportunity to keep it all together heading into a busy next few months.

“This is probably the best set of steers we’ve shown on in a while,” Brazile said. “Just a good set of light cattle. It’s good for these horses.”

A Relentless Buzz’s strongest qualities, Brazile said, start to show before he ever leaves the box.

“His box work is just so mature,” he said. “The horse can run plenty, so I’m never having to worry about being too close to the start because of speed that he’s lacking because there’s plenty there.”

The Relentless Remuda-owned gelding was bred by the Flag Ranch and is by One Time Honor, a son of One Time Pepto, and out of Makebelieve Mistress, by Fishers Dash.

That run is one of the few things Brazile still pays particular attention to, making sure Buzz breaks his stride down when he reaches his spot.

“He’s a big horse, but he moves real smooth,” Brazile said.

By June, A Relentless Buzz had already earned $65,803 in 2026 futurity money, ranking second among head horses according to QData. His Texas Best checks push that known 2026 total to at least $74,103—and his performance in Decatur showed why Brazile has come to expect him to handle the pressure like a much older horse.
