Nicky Northcott sits No. 21 in the 2025 PRCA world standings, all while holding an overwhelming lead in the Resistol Rookie of the Year race with $78,670.32 won on the year.
The 18-year-old from Stephenville, Texas, is roping with two-time World Champion Clay Smith and has won over $60,000 since June 5. Their efforts this summer have Northcott leading the Resistol Rookie Heeler of the Year standings by $43,202.30, ahead of Arizona cowboy Reece Wadhams. After tying for the win in Kennewick, Washington, Aug. 23, Northcott has picked up momentum to finish the 2025 season with a serious shot at his first NFR.

Northcott’s standout June performance came at the Reno Rodeo, where he and Smith ended up third in the average with a time of 17.6 seconds on three head to win $7,403 a man in the average alone.
