In late-summer fashion, the bubble is boiling in the 2025 PRCA team roping world standings with major shifts the week of Aug. 4-10.

Numerous teams on the brink of the Top 15 saw major wins and a week full of checks to keep them alive in the fight for the NFR. But it wasn’t just the bubble boys making noise as teams on the inside looking out also fought hard to try and solidify themselves deeper inside the Top 15.

When you think of Andrew Ward and Jake Long, the word “underdogs” doesn’t come to mind. But as they’ve danced in and out of the Top 15 this season, they’re now working their way back inside. Ward and Long pocketed $13,211 a man over the weekend to jump to No. 15 and 13 with $81,654.25 and $79,907.70, respectively. They picked up the win at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo in Hermiston, Oregon, with a 10.0 on two head for a total $11,745 a man, and they won another $1,466 apiece in Logan, Utah, at the Cache County Fair And Rodeo. While Ward and Long may just be creeping into the Top 15, they sit inside the Top 10 of the PRCA Playoff Series standings with one week remaining for the Cinch Playoff Series cutoff. With a purse of $75,000 (per side) in the team roping and a Finals paying $13,400 a man to the winners, plus the Top 4 qualifying for the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, Ward and Long are in a good spot.

Standings as of Aug. 12, 2025

Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin have been in unfamiliar territory on the outside looking in this season. Proctor and Medlin currently sit No. 27 and 31 in the world standings, both with $51,527.14, but are inching closer to bubble territory each week. Proctor and Medlin took the win in Lovington, New Mexico, at the Lea County PRCA Rodeo with a 10.4 on two steers for a total $7,896 apiece. They also won $2,494 a man out of Hermiston, bringing their weekend to $10,390 a man.

Sid Sporer is knocking on the door of the Top 15, thanks in part to a $13,255-a-man week behind Tee McLeod. Sporer, who won the Ponoka Stampede with Kolton Schmidt this summer, won $5,404 out of Hermiston after winning third in the average, and $2,118 out of Logan. Sporer also capitalized in Montana, pocketing $1,152 at the Bozeman Stampede and $2,099 from the Missoula Stampede. Earlier in the week they also pocketed $2,482 a man at the Larimer County Fair & Rodeo in Loveland, Colorado. Sporer now sits No. 17 in the world standings with $72,468.34 won on the year thus far, closely hunting his first NFR qualification.

On the other end of the spectrum are Lightning Aguilera and Wyatt Cox who are fighting tooth and nail to stay inside the Top 15. Aguilera, who qualified for the 2022 NFR, and Cox currently sit No. 10 and 14 with $90,854.37 and $79,032.18, respectively and pocketed $6,684 apiece over the weekend with their biggest hit coming from Bozeman. The last three weeks have been strong for Aguilera and Cox as they raked in $30,569, making a significant push in Cox’s fight for his first trip the Thomas & Mack. However, with the PRCA Playoff Series playing such a vital role in the NFR fight, Aguilera and Cox sit just outside the Top 23 of the standings at No. 25 and No. 26.

A little more wiggle room

The bubble boys weren’t the only teams doing work. Riley and Brady Minor have been holding strong to their spots in the Top 15, cashing in each week while flying somewhat under the radar. The Minors have recently been utilizing the Great White North and northern U.S. states to climb to No. 7 in the world standings with $98,075.11. The Minors cashed in $13,956 a man Aug. 6-10, winning Missoula and Bozeman to highlight their week.

Tanner Tomlinson jumped to the top of the world standings, thanks in part to the weekend. Tomlinson and Travis Graves won $8,400 apiece to put them first and second in the world with $147,806.84 and $140,896.41. Tomlinson and Graves kicked off their successful week with a second-place finish at the Jerome County Fair And Rodeo in Idaho for $2,401 a man, and their biggest check came from second in Round 1 in Hermiston for $4,157 a man.

Reigning World Champs Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp took two major wins over the weekend in Logan and at the Omak Stampede in Washington. Wade and Thorp pocketed $7,558 apiece and currently sit third and fourth in the world stands with $125,192.62.

Wade and Thorp weren’t alone in Logan, however, splitting the win with 2021 and 2022 World Champions Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira for $4,562 a man. With checks in Hermiston and Jerome, as well as the win in Loveland, Driggers and Nogueira raked in $14,125 a man. Driggers and Nogueira now sit fifth in the world standings with $114,292.39 won on the year thus far.
