Cason Richey of Sunset, Texas, and Calvin Jr. Taylor from Cantuillo, Texas, were 4.5 seconds in the short round Friday, July 14 to win the 2023 IFYR with an 18.5 on three head.

The 31st edition of the International Finals Youth Rodeo, the six-day event featuring nearly 1,000 entries from 35 different states, kicked off Sunday, July 9, 2023. Marking its 30th year in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the IFYR will continue through July 14 and will be one of the richest youth rodeos in the sport, paying upwards of $250,000.

“Each year at this event, we all agree that it’s such a blessing to the sport that we have been able to host this kind of payout at such an iconic rodeo for youth rodeo athletes,” said IPRA General Manager Dale Yerigan. “We are ecstatic to work with our incredible partners and unbelievable Volunteers in Shawnee as we usher in over three decades of adding to the rich history of rodeo and continue to bring new opportunities to youth athletes.”

IFYR Schedule

The IFYR will feature 11 total performances with the final performance taking place Friday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. The event will consist of two long-go’s and a short-go, comprising the top 15 contestants in each event. 

Sunday, July 9: 8 p.m.
Monday, July 10: 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, July 11: 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, July 12: 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 13: 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Friday, July 14:  9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. finals
