How the 2025 Cheyenne Frontier Days Team Roping Tournament Works
The 2025 Cheyenne Frontier Days team roping features the top 60 fastest teams from the July 7 slack. These 60 teams are divided evenly across the rodeo’s six performances from July 19 to July 24.
The top 12 fastest teams from the slack’s Wildcard Round also advanced to the July 19–24 performances.
Wait, How do the Cheyenne Frontier Days’ Semifinals and Finals work?
From each performance, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals held on July 25 and July 26. The top six teams from each semifinal then move on to the clean-slate finals on July 27.
Why Was Cheyenne’s Team Roping Slack SO Early This Year?
The Cheyenne Frontier Days team roping slack bumped up its date two weeks to ensure quality cattle in 2025, with the team ropers and the steer ropers roping the same cattle from producer Ty Yost. The horned cattle shortage has contractors across the country looking for more steers to rope, with the PRCA stock contractors not immune from the market turmoil. Yost’s Cheyenne Frontier Days steers were top-notch on July 7, having been roped once or twice before their appearance at The Daddy.
