The Team Roping Journal strives to expand and energize the team roping industry by telling dynamic stories of the people, horses and events that inspire the sport. Through engaging editorial and photography, we work to provide the necessary content for today’s team roper to maximize his or her precious time in and out of the arena.
Meet The Team Behind The Team Roping Journal:
Chelsea Shaffer is Equine Network’s editorial director, with a special focus on The Team Roping Journal and The Breakaway Roping Journal. A long-time advocate of women’s roping, Shaffer won the 2017 WPRA Media Award for the promotion of the sport. A 2010 graduate of Ohio University’s Honor’s Tutorial College, she prioritizes solid news reporting and storytelling in her writing. She lives in Weatherford, Texas.
A former intern for the company, Casey Allen is now the Jr. Western Digital Content Producer for Barrel Racing Magazine, The Breakaway Roping Journal and The Team Roping Journal. Casey grew up in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin, where she competed in college rodeo while obtaining her bachelor’s degree in marketing with a minor in sports business and served as a graduate assistant coach while completing her master’s degree in business administration. Casey currently competes in both PRCA/WPRA and amateur rodeos in the barrel racing and breakaway roping and is the host of “The Breakaway Breakdown” Podcast.
Kendra Santos was editor of Spin to Win Rodeo for its entire 21-year run, and now serves as senior editor of The Team Roping Journal. Raised in a rodeo family that is four generations strong, Santos’s career also has included longtime stints as the PRCA Director of Communications, PBR Editor-in-Chief and rodeo columnist for American Cowboy magazine. Kendra is mom to two roping sons, Lane and Taylor.
Lillian Kent is a copywriting professional manning the digital content production for Barrel Racing Magazine, The Team Roping Journal and The Breakaway Roping Journal.
As a fifth generation West Texas rancher and avid Versatility Ranch Horse competitor, she brings both a knowledge of the ranching lifestyle and a fresh take on rodeo sports to the table.
Graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, Lillian values genuine connections and lots of caffeine.
