RESISTOL HOSTS CELEBRATION FOR THE 2020 RESISTOL ROOKIES OF THE YEAR
Resistol, one of the original sponsors of the PRCA and official hat of the PRCA, celebrated the 2020 Resistol Rookies with its sixth annual luncheon at Billy Bob’s Texas to honor each of the recipients.

Fort Worth, Texas—While many of the top PRCA competitors have multiple chances throughout their career to win gold buckles and titles in the events they compete in, there is one award that a competitor has only one shot at, the coveted Resistol Rookie of the Year. This award is given out to first-year card members who are the high money winner of their event at the end of the season, including WNFR. Resistol, one of the original sponsors of the PRCA and official hat of the PRCA, celebrated the 2020 Resistol Rookies with its sixth annual luncheon at Billy Bob’s Texas to honor each of the recipients. The rookies received airfare, tickets to the rodeo, and hotel rooms to attend the special occasion.

TEAM ROPING HEADER: TANNER TOMLINSON, Angleton, TX

TEAM ROPING HEELER: CLAY FUTRELL, Union Grove NC

TIE DOWN ROPER: LUKE POTTER, Maple City, KS

BARREL RACER: PAIGE JONES, Wayne, OK

STEER ROPER: DALTON WALKER, Bertram, TX

A Battle to the End: Tanner Tomlinson Crowned 2020 Resistol Rookie Header of the Year

While most winners were decided at the end of the season, the Bull Riding Rookie Champion outcome was determined at the conclusion of the WNFR! Three bull riding rookies qualified for the 2020 WNFR and battled it out until the end. Contenders Ky Hamilton, Mackay, QL; Colten Fritzlan, Rifle, CO; and Parker McCown, Montgomery, TX; were vying for the Resistol Rookie title, but Colten Fritzlan came away victorious, winning both the WNFR average as well as the Resistol Rookie title.

Family, friends, and industry people enjoyed music by Lindsey Cardinale, food, and fellowship as the rookies were honored and individually introduced by emcee’s Anthony Lucia and Scott Grover during the noon hour at Billy Bob’s Texas on the National Finals Rodeo Resistol Day. The PRCA Resistol Rookies were presented with a custom, personalized 20X Resistol Black Gold hat and trophy carrying case, a beautifully fully tooled trophy Cactus Saddle, a Resistol branded Yeti Cooler, a Resistol PRCA Rookie leather trophy jacket, Wrangler Jeans certificates, and gifts from Fastback Ropes and Cavender’s. Previous World Champion and past Resistol Rookie of the Year Joe Beaver, 26X World Champion Trevor Brazile, past World Champions Tuff Hedeman, Luke Branquinho, and 4x World Champion Barrel Racer Sherry Cervi, each addressed the well-attended event with congratulations to the rookies and sentiments of what the title means. Their messages praised the 2020 Resistol Rookies’ hard work and noted that this is a once in a lifetime achievement that only a select few achieve and a title they will carry throughout their career. PRCA CEO George Taylor and Resistol General Manager Ricky Bolin also congratulated the Resistol Rookies, remarking that they are the future of the sport and the PRCA. The PRCA Resistol Rookies of the Year were again recognized in the arena during Round 6 of the WNFR at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX., and presented their Montana Silversmiths champion buckles.

Resistol also invited and introduced the 2020 National Little Britches Association Resistol Rookies of the Year and their families.

Congratulations to these amazing youth rodeo athletes: Senior Girl, Brylee Hemphill, Normagee TX;

Senior Boy, Lane Howard, Mendota, Illinois; Junior Girl, Rhea Fenner, Lovelock, NV ; Junior Boy, Junior Boy—Kham Patterson; Little Wrangler, Kash Woods, Cleveland OK.

Also during the celebration, The Resistol “Man of the Year” award was presented. This award goes to someone in the industry who goes above and beyond to further our sport and lifestyle while exemplifying what the Resistol brand means.

Previous recipients include Cody Johnson, Billy Pipes, Tandy Freeman, J Pat Evans, George Strait, Red Stegall, Michael Gaughn, Denis Carroll, Karl Stressman, Cotton Rosser, and Neal Gay. This year, we award a legendary man who has impacted the world of rodeo like none other. He is announcing his record 26th year of the WNFR. Named PRCA announcer of the Year 10X. ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee in 2004 and honored this year by the Hall of Fame with the Legend of ProRodeo Award. There are so many accolades attached to his career that we won’t name them all. He is a legend and the one we all look up to! The 2020 Resistol Man of the Year is Bob Tallman!

The finale of the luncheon was a complete surprise to the recipient.

Resistol awarded 26X World Champion Trevor Brazile, a custom 1000X Resistol hat with an engraved sweatband, for surpassing the $7 million mark in earnings, a feat no other rodeo cowboy has achieved.

The night culminated with Resistol Rookie buckle presentations during the WNFR Round 6 at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, to the rookies by Dustin Noblitt, President of ProEquine

Group, Ricky Bolin, GM of Resistol and Mary Jane Carpenter, Brand Director of Resistol. Trevor Brazile was also honored for his 26th World Championship and 2020 Steer Roping World Champion title.
