The fifth annual Resistol Rookie Roundup returns to the Cowtown Coliseum March 20-21, 2026, with rookie team ropers vying for a part of the a $100,000 purse at the historic Cowtown Coliseum.

What is the Resistol Rookie Roundup?

Featuring the top 10 first-year cardholders from the PRCA and WPRA, along with a $100,000 payout, the event provides a premier stage for rodeo’s rising stars while spotlighting the next generation of world champions.

Among the standout rookies is accomplished all-around cowboy Ketch Kelton. The Arizona native has already proven himself on some of rodeo’s biggest stages, including winning the 2025 Cinch Timed Event Championship. Kelton will compete in heading as he continues his pursuit of year-end Resistol Rookie of the Year honors.

Earnings from the event will count toward the PRCA and WPRA world standings, and competitors will also have the opportunity to earn an invitation to a semifinal regional event of The American Rodeo in Lexington, Kentucky.

With the race for Resistol Rookie of the Year underway, the 2026 Resistol Rookie Roundup will once again highlight the sport’s brightest upcoming talents.

1. Conley Kleinhans/Kyler Kanady, 5.0 seconds, $1,644 each; 2. Jet Toberer/Cody Egusquiza, 5.6, $1,233; 3. Caden Lehman/Jarrett Peek, 5.9, $822; 4. Denton Parish/Will Smith, 7.8, $411. 

Round 2

1. Cole Smith/Caden Beatty, 5.3 seconds, $1,644 each; 2. Conley Kleinhans/Kyler Kanady, 12.0, $1,233; 3. Caden Lehman/Jarrett Peek, 15.1, $822; no other qualified runs.

Average

1. Conley Kleinhans/Kyler Kanady, 17.0 seconds on two head, $2,466 each; 2. Cole Smith/Caden Beatty, 18.6, $1,849; 3. Caden Lehman/Jarrett Peek, 21.0, $1,233; 4. Jet Toberer/Cody Egusquiza, 5.6 on one head, $616.

The Resistol Rookie Roundup is airing on the Cowboy Channel starting at 7:30 PM CT on Friday and Saturday March 20-21.

Gabe Williams and Faron Candelaria’s win at the 2025 Resistol Rookie Roundup proves that when something is meant to be, nothing can stop it. 

The unexpected duo topped the final four round on April 26 with a 4.4-second time, amassing $6,258 between them.
