Two races run through the Ellensburg Rodeo this weekend, and neither has any room in it.

Coy Rahlmann and Logan Medlin hold the eighth and final automatic Governor’s Cup spot in the PRCA Playoff Series standings by 6.45 points over Cory Kidd V and Carson Johnson.

Resistol Rookie of the Year heading leader Ketch Kelton holds the No. 15 spot in the world standings by $819 over Nelson Wyatt.

The Ellensburg Rodeo ($320,000 added) and Walla Walla Frontier Days ($140,000 added) are the last two Playoff Series stops before the Cinch Playoffs in Puyallup, Wash., Sept. 10–13. The Puyallup field is set, but the points race isn’t over: Lewiston, Pendleton and the Roughrider Cup in Mandan still count before the Sept. 21 cutoff, and the top eight in Playoff Series points at that date go straight to the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, S.D. The top four out of Puyallup get in, too.

Behind Rahlmann and Medlin, the eight-spot chase is a pileup. Kidd and Johnson sit ninth at 892.25, Dawson and Dillon Graham 10th at 879.67, Lightning Aguilera 11th at 870.29, Clint Summers and Jade Corkill 12th at 832.63, Kelton 13th and Denton Dunning 11th, and Cody Snow 14th at 811.63. Aguilera and Kaden Profili were second in Ellensburg’s first round and sit second in the average. Snow and Lane Mitchell lead the average at 9.8 seconds on two head.

The NFR bubble is tighter still, and who has a Puyallup invite matters as much as the money. On the heading side, Kelton’s $97,332.56 is the line, and he’s in for Puyallup. Wyatt, $819 back, is not. Brenten Hall, $4,129 back, is in. Kavis Drake ($7,218 back) and Ellensburg’s own Riley Minor ($8,319 back) are out. Tee McLeod, $8,660 back, is in. On the heeling side, Wyatt Cox’s $101,828.41 is the line, and he, Corkill ($2,930 back), Mitchell ($4,081 back) and Trent Vaught ($5,376 back) all have Puyallup. Jonathan Torres, $5,315 back, does not.

That makes Wyatt and Torres the team with the hardest road left: No. 16 and No. 18 in the world, no Puyallup invite and 24th in Playoff Series points. Their NFR has to come from money at regular rodeos alone, starting this weekend.
