7 Resistol Rookies Add Money to Earnings for a Shot at Year-End Title
Seven Resistol Rookies added money to their earnings with hopes of finishing the 2020 ProRodeo season as the Resistol Rookie of the Year.

ProRodeo hosted their final, big rodeo weekend of the 2020 regular season Aug. 3 through Aug. 9, and seven Resistol Rookies added to their season earnings as they compete for their once-in-a-lifetime shot at the Resistol Rookie heading and heeling year-end titles.

Resistol Rookie Headers:  

Jack Graham and Coy Rahmlann were the sole two Resistol Rookie heading contenders to add money to their earnings over the past weekend in ProRodeo.

Lakeview, Oregon’s Graham hopped right into the top 10 of the Resistol Rookie heading standings after adding $2,065.65 to his earnings. He and the 2019 Pendleton (Oregon) Round-Up Champion Heeler, Calgary Smith, tied Cyle Denison and Lane Mitchell for fourth at the Cache County Fair And Rodeo in Logan, Utah, worth $2,078 a man. 

Ellsinore, Missouri’s Rahlmann continues to eye his shot for the No. 1 position in the Resistol Rookie heading standings. He and Ryan Von Ahn placed third at the Auto Plaza Group PRCA Reginal Rodeo in Farmington, Missouri, with a 4.9-second run, worth $677 a man. Currently, Rahlmann is guarding his No. 3 spot in the standings with $6,710.58 in total season earnings.

Resistol Rookie Heelers: 

In the Resistol Rookie heeling standings, five heelers added money to their season earnings, including heeling standings leader, Clay Futrell, who is sitting comfortably at No. 1, with just a few weeks left in the regular season. 

Futrell has not slowed down since the start of the 2020 ProRodeo season. The heeler from Union Grove, North Carolina, continues to pull away with the No. 1 spot in the Resistol Rookie heeling standings and is 24th in the PRCA world standings, with a total of $23,271.00 in season earnings. He and header Cory Kidd V tied Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins II for seventh with a 5.0-second run at the Lawton (Oklahoma) Rangers Rodeo, adding $1,763 to each man’s earnings. 

Who’s Resistol Rookie Heeling Standings Leader Clay Futrell?

Fox, Oklahoma’s Bradley Johnson came up from behind in the Resistol Rookie heeling standings to move into the top 10 with $2,383.78 in total season earnings. Johnson, who is heeling for Gavin Foster, won the Sand & Sage Roundup in Lamar, Colorado, with a 4.6-second run, worth $1,758 a man, putting him in seventh place. 

Tanner McInerney, from Alzada, Montana, who is heeling for his older brother, Brent, came in a close second behind Johnson’s and Foster’s 4.6-second run at the Sand & Sage Roundup after stopping the clock in 4.7 seconds, adding $1,455 to each man’s earnings. McInerney moved from fifth to fourth in the Resistol Rookie heeling standings with $4,616.11 in season earnings. 

Menoken, North Dakota’s Jake Beard is just outside the top 10 of the Resistol Rookie heeling standings, sitting 12th with $1,554.65. Beard and header Jace Johnson added $1,015 to each of their earnings after winning the Big Timber (Montana) Weekly PRCA Rodeo with a 6.1-second run, which helped Johnson move into the top 10 of the Montana Circuit standings.

Payson, Utah’s Jared Fillmore, who won second at the 2020 RFD-TV’s The American with Colby Lovell, is now heeling for Casey Tew. Tew and Fillmore tied Luke Brown and Patrick Smith for ninth at the Lawton Rangers Rodeo with a 5.1-second run, adding $588 to each man’s earnings. Fillmore moved into the top five of the Resistol Rookie heeling standings with $3,583.05.
