First and foremost: the Ariat World Series of Team Roping Finale is still on and moving forward as planned.

To help protect the horses traveling in for the Finale, and to allow time for the EHV-1 cases linked to recent events in Texas and Oklahoma to run their course, the South Point Equestrian Center is limiting equine activity on its grounds between now and the start of the Finale. The current epidemic remains isolated to those Texas and Oklahoma events. These precautions are intended to keep it that way and to create a safer buffer before thousands of horses arrive in Las Vegas.

As part of these measures, the South Point has notified the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association that the National Finals of Breakaway Roping, the PRCA Permit Challenge, and the Benny Binion Bucking Horse Sale cannot take place at the venue on December 2, 3, or 4. Both associations support the venue’s decision. They are already reviewing alternate dates and locations so these events can continue with as little disruption as possible while the South Point focuses its attention on the Finale.

With Arizona events also taking a brief pause, we appreciate our industry partners for doing their part to keep competitors and their horses safe. These combined efforts reflect a shared goal: a strong and successful Ariat World Series of Team Roping Finale.

Additional updates will be shared as they are confirmed.
