Clay Tryan is team roping’s winningest man of all-time, and his exclusive instructional video—The Perfect Spin—is now streaming on Roping.com.
After roping professionally for more than 25 years and dominating the sport at the jackpots and major rodeos, three-time World Champion Tryan has produced an instructional video for ropers of all levels.
“It takes years of roping and experience to gain the knowledge necessary to explain roping in a way that people can understand,” Tryan, of Billings, Montana, explained. “The information on this video ranges from basic instruction for beginners to advanced techniques for higher level ropers.”
Detailed instruction includes mental preparation, scoring, handling steers, the header’s swing, delivery and facing. On a more personal level, Tryan talks about growing up in a roping family and rodeo greats talk about what sets Clay Tryan apart.
“Our goal with Roping.com is to bring the team roping industry together as a community, sharing the kind of content that drives the sport and the way of life forward,” said Chelsea Shaffer, editorial director for The Team Roping Journal and content director for Roping.com. “Clay Tryan has been a close ally of ours for decades, so bringing him on board through Roping.com with The Perfect Spin is a natural fit.”
Tryan is currently No. 2 in the PRCA world standings, having won RodeoHouston and the Cheyenne Frontier Days in 2022. He’s also the winningest jackpot header of all time, having won every major event, including the Lonestar Shootout, the Bob Feist Invitational, the George Strait Team Roping Classic, the US Open and more. He’s the winningest roper in BFI history, and he’s won over $3 million in PRCA earnings as well, putting him ahead of all other team ropers and within the top 10 earners in the history of the sport.
