Three rodeos remain in the race for the 2024 PRCA Cinch Playoff Series in Puyallup, Washington, Sept. 5-8.
What’s so important about Puyallup? There’s a purse of $73,000 up for grabs on each end, and only the top 23 in the Playoff Series standings and the NFR Open Champs earn a spot in Puyallup.
The last three rodeos to scoop up points before the Aug. 26 cut-off date are Tremonton, Utah and Kennewick and Bremerton, both in Washington.
The PRCA Playoff Series represents big payouts in the final three weeks of the regular season and last-chance opportunities for those outside the Top 15—and on the bubble—to make a big move in the world standings.

What is the PRCA Playoff Series?
You might remember the ProRodeo Tour in 2021. Today, it’s officially called the PRCA Playoff Series. Standings are kept throughout the season and there is a championship event at the end of the year. Contestants competed at rodeos such as Odessa, San Antonio and Salinas, just to name a few, to earn points.
Who qualified for Puyallup?
There will be 24 teams in Puyallup. The top 23 headers and the top 23 heelers based on the 2024 PRCA Playoff Series Standings will be accepted. The champion header and heeler from the NFR Open will also be accepted. If the NFR Open champion header and/or heeler do not enter or are already qualified based on Playoff Series Standings, the next highest ranked header and/or heeler from the Final Four Round of the NFR Open (who has not already qualified based on Playoff Series Standings) will be accepted. If the top four headers and heelers from the NFR Open do not enter the Finale or are already accepted based on Playoff Series Standings, the next highest ranked header and heeler in the Playoff Series Standings who enters will be accepted.
Welcome to Sioux Falls
After Puyallup, the teams who finish in the top four in Puyallup will meet up with the top eight in the 2024 PRCA Playoff Series standings on the year (as of Sept. 16, 2024) and head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for the 2024 Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup.
What is the Governor’s Cup, and why does it matter?
The Governor’s Cup takes place Sept. 26-28, 2024, and offers a payout across eight events of $1 million.
The close of the PRCA regular season is Sept. 30. That means that the following massive payouts will hit during the final days of the season and it will have an impact on who makes the National Finals Rodeo in December as the buzzer sounds.
