Carson Sheets and Luke Roberts put together two clean runs to win the #10.5 Jr Team Roping Semi Finals at the 2026 Patriot in Fort Worth, stopping the clock in 15.82 seconds on two head to earn $1,500.

The pair of 15-year-olds from Florida rope together often and relied on that consistency to stay in contention through the long round before capitalizing on a tricky steer in the short round.

“The steer had a head trick, and I was really just trying to focus on getting around the right horn,” Sheets said.

Roberts stuck the catch on the heel side despite a near spill.

“About halfway through my honda broke off and I almost fell off,” Roberts laughed. “But we stayed on and made it work.”

The flag dropped before the near spill, locking in the run that secured the semifinal win.

Sheets and Roberts roped in front of a large group of family and friends who made the trip from Florida to support them throughout the Patriot.

Both cowboys spend much of their time practicing together back home in Florida when they are not enjoying the outdoors. Roberts said he plans to put his winnings toward buying an airboat, while Sheets keeps his focus on his long-term goal of competing in the PRCA.

When they are not roping, Roberts spends his free time fishing and catching hogs, while Sheets enjoys fishing and staying sharp in the practice pen.

With the semifinal win secured, the pair now turns its attention to the Patriot Finals.
