In honor of the first day of the National Finals of Breakaway Roping, Women's Rodeo World Championship Heading Champion Lari Dee Guy breaks down each team's prospects.
Coleman Proctor

Clint Summers and Ross Ashford

Round 4: NT

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $10,000

World Standings Earnings: $84,482.63; $81,822.41

Average: 14; 44.9/2

World Standings: 15

Guy’s take: Clint looks like, to me, he’s missing the start. He needs to just relax and hit the start and he’ll be someone to deal with. If he stays with that horse, he’ll be just fine.

Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan

Round 4: 4.9

Round Winnings: $4,354.35

Total NFR Earnings: $14,354.35

World Standings Earnings: $87,860.09; $89,130.27

Average: 7; 20.4/3

World Standings: 13

Guy’s take: Brenten has ridden the horse in this setup—and in every setup—for a while. I think if he could control more of the left side of the horse and push in a forward motion, it will be great.

Tyler Wade and Trey Yates

Round 4: 20.0

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $36,996.97

World Standings Earnings: $126,034.50; $121,178.83

Average: 11; 33.2/3

World Standings: 5

Guy’s take: He’s fixing to get hot. You can’t keep Tyler Wade down long. In a situation like this, he’s one of the best headers ever. They better watch out. You give Trey a chance and he’s money. He’s an average winner here for a reason.

Clay Tryan and Jake Long

Round 4: 7.7

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $19,144.13

World Standings Earnings: $113,394.46; $114,369.98

Average: 12

World Standings: 8; 7

take: There’s nobody more of a gamer than Clay Tryan. He will figure out how to win.

Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp

Round 4: 5.5+10

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $10,000

World Standings Earnings: $89,676.58; $112,036.91

Average: 10; 30.50/3

World Standings: 12; 8

Guy’s take: Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp are two of the greatest going right now. With them not winning anything to this point, the rest of the field better watch out. That’s the best head horse going, and Wesley Thorp is a gamer. He’s known how to win since he was a little kid at the US Ropings.

Clay Smith and Jade Corkill

Round 4: 5.0

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $53,108.07

World Standings Earnings: $163,678.27 each

Average: 2; 18.5/4

World Standings: 3; 2

Guy’s take: They are roping so, so smart. For Clay Smith to decide to get off Marty, he had to feel something so, so special in Boogie. And it’s clear that he knew what he was doing. Jade Corkill looks like Jade Corkill—he’s amazing to watch.

Erich Rogers and Paden Bray 5.0 + 5

Round 4: 5.0 + 5

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $31,336.32

World Standings Earnings: $153,353.45; $148,273.23

Average: 4; 33.20/4

World Standings: 4

Guy’s take: Erich Rogers is doing a very, very good job. He’s showing Paden the same look every run. Paden doesn’t look as settled in, but when he starts getting around them and going off with his confidence, we’ll see some round wins.

Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira 4.1

Round 4: 4.1

Round Winnings: $26,996.97

Total NFR Earnings: $64,429

World Standings Earnings: $183,759.78; $198,144.88

Average: 1; 18.2/4

World Standings: 1

Guy’s take: Kaleb is hitting the start and getting it on them, and that horse is making it easy for him to get it on the horns. Junior is—what do you say about Junior? He knows how to heel behind Driggers in any setup, but especially here. They say they’re going for it every night, so they’ll be fun to watch for six more rounds.

Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves

Round 4: 4.4

Round Winnings: $18,723.71

Total NFR Earnings: $28,723.71

World Standings Earnings: $176,239.49; $155,592.83

Average: 15; 4.4/1

World Standings: 2; 3

Guy’s take: Going into the fifth round, when Dustin and Travis only have $28,723 won, I think the rest of the field better be on their toes because, if and when Dustin gets tapped off, it’s game on.

Quinn Kesler and Joseph Harrison

Round 4: 4.4

Round Winnings: $18,723.71

Total NFR Earnings: $40,045.02

World Standings Earnings: $102,448.24; $101,733.47

Average: 8; 21.8/3

World Standings: 10; 12

Guy’s take: Joseph made a horse change to his bay, Capone, and he did so well on that horse in Arlington. I think he’ll have confidence in him the rest of the week.

Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich

Round 4: 4.0 + 5

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $21,321.31

World Standings Earnings: $85,247.28; $85,170.51

Average: 9; 23.7/3

World Standings: 10; 12

Guy’s take: I’m pumped that Coy is doing good. I think he’ll get a go-round win, because both of those guys are gamers and fun to watch. That horse Doug is on is Paul Eaves’ good mare and she looks awesome, as always.

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins

Round 4: 4.8

Round Winnings: $6,966.96

Total NFR Earnings: $42,222.19

World Standings Earnings: $111,063.88 each

Average: 3; 19.4/4

World Standings: 9

Guy’s take: Buddy Hawkins is the most underrated heeler in the world. Those two are truly a team, and you can tell they’re family because they rope like it. Andrew’s horse is maybe the most unique in this building, but he’s effective and Buddy knows exactly where to be behind him.

Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin

Round 4: NT

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $35,690.67

World Standings Earnings: $98,445.80; $105,025.68

Average: 13; 13.0/2

World Standings: 11;10

Guy’s take: That’s a shot that Logan won’t miss again. That was a fluke and it’s not even worth dwelling on.

Derrick Begay and Brady Minor

Round 4: NT

Round Winnings: 0

Total NFR Earnings: $42,657.62;

World Standings Earnings: $113,550.82; $104,536.07

Average: 6; 18.2/3

World Standings: 7; 11

Guy’s take: Begay’s a cowboy. And so is Brady. Those two guys are here to win, but they’re having fun doing it. It’s amazing to see what they’ve both done without their partners, and I don’t think they’re done yet.

Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler

Round 4: 4.7

Round Winnings: $11,321.31

Total NFR Earnings: $48,318

World Standings Earnings: $119,863.04; $118,829.96

Average: 5; 35.7/4

World Standings: 6

Guy’s take: Rhen does every timed event well. He rides his horse great and he throws a tight head loop. I think they’ll keep rolling. Jeremy Buhler is one of the best heelers in this building, and a World’s Champ for a reason. TRJ
