Simple as Possible: Roping Tips with Brenten Hall

“I want to make it now that I have a little bit of a better chance,” Hall said. “My hopes are a little higher now. I need to start catching more. One catch a week isn’t enough. I don’t really have a lead whatsoever, so I just need to win as much as I can—just be smart.”

Hall and Tryan’s 4.4-second catch at the Gooding (Idaho) Pro Rodeo was enough for $3,929 a man to move them inside the top 15.

“I got a good start and I got a pretty good roll,” Hall said. “It felt good and I went ahead and let it go and when I did I curled his nose. I got pretty nervous for a second. I didn’t pull my slack and just dallied, and when I did it came off at the last second.”

Hall rode Mikey, 15, the bay horse that the 2019 NFR Average Champion Header Cody Snow rode at the California rodeos in 2019.

Team Roping Journal Extra Volume 9: Cody Snow

“This spring, right before I left I went over and tried him and rode him at a few rodeos,” Hall said. “I bought him. I’ve pretty much won all my money on him this year. I’ve won a little bit on TimeBomb.”

Hall and Tryan have the Gold Buckle Beer ProRodeo Tour Finale in Rapid City, South Dakota, and the Cowboy Capital Of The World PRCA Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas left on their schedule to finish out the 2020 regular season.

“I’m going to ride Mikey at the Tour Finale for sure,” Hall said. “TimeBomb is in Stephenville and Captain so I’ll have options to ride there. If I do good at the Tour Finale then I might just turn Stephenville out.”
