Rich Skelton’s Rope for the Gold

Rich Skelton and Tom Cusick hosted their third annual Rope for the Gold Roping outside Boerne, Texas, at Cusick’s Estancia Valley Ranch and the best in the world showed up. The event is unique in that the current top 15 in the Crusher Rentals World Standings enjoy no entry fees, reserved parking and V.I.P. treatment.

This year, a team outside the top 20 snuck in to steal the thunder from their Vegas-bound counterparts. Justin Davis and Colby Lovell roped five steers in 30.61 seconds and won $16,560. Davis and Lovell also won the first go with a 5.41-second run. Joel Bach and Martin Lucero had the fast time of the weekend, turning in a 4.70 in the second go round.

The event also hosted pro-am and am-pro ropings. In the pro-am, Ty Blasingame teamed up with Cody Lever to rope four steers in 29.98 seconds-distancing the second place team by over seven seconds. In the am-pro, Don Beaton and Cory Petska joined forces to rope four head in 28.47 seconds
