The top 15 headers in the world have mostly settled on their head horses for Round 1 of the 2025 NFR when it kicks off Dec. 4, in Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
- There are 16 years between the oldest and youngest horses in this year’s field. Riley Minor’s RK Tuff Trinket is the oldest at 23. Dustin Egusquiza’s Snoopy Guy and SJR Diamond Bond, owned by Rhen Richard and ridden by Kolton Schmidt, are the youngest at 7.
- There are no mares in the field of 2025 NFR head horses.
- Easy Jet influence shows up twice. Kaleb Driggers’ Fin Bar Whiskey One’s dam’s sire is Rebel Easy Jet by Easy Jet, while Luke Brown’s DM Jet Off’s dam’s sire is Easy Jet.
- The only grade head horse in the mix is Bartender. Cyle Denison cracked out Colby Lovell’s roan gelding last year in Round 6 of the 2024 NFR, and Denison added him to his string permanently earlier this regular season.
- SEVS Judgment Day is a Pink and Riata stallion, and he’ll be the first stallion in both of these incentives to compete inside the Thomas & Mack.
- Three horses have yet to be decided as of Nov. 30—Derrick Begay, Jake Smith and Lightning Aguilera.
