Team ropers are heading to the bayfronts of Corpus Christi, Texas, May 7-11, for the 2024 WCRA Rodeo Corpus Christi.

Team ropers are fighting for the $15,000 payday and the coveted Rodeo Corpus Christi championship surfboard, as well as a spot in the Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo on the WCRA’s Free Riders team.

WCRA Free Riders opportunity

The first and second-place athletes from Rodeo Corpus Christi will qualify for the WCRA’s Free Riders team. This sixth team will compete at the inaugural Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo on May 17 in Arlington, Texas, at AT&T Stadium.

The team will be comprised of two athletes per discipline and will compete head-to-head in barrel racing, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, and breakaway roping in a team format. The competition will be a bracket-style, featuring Kid Rock LIVE in concert. Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo will lead into the PBR World Finals—Championship, also at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, on May 18-19.

Rodeo Corpus Christi Division Youth Showcase Roster

Rodeo Corpus Christi will also showcase 88 youth athletes in the CEAT Specialty Rodeo Corpus ChristiDivision Youth (DY) Showcase event on May 7. The event will be held at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Rodeo Corpus Christi has been chosen as the location for the second WCRA Division Youth Showcase event for the 2024 series, most recently hosted in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The event offers a purse of $55,000, ensuring that each Champion will receive a minimum of $2,000. This presents an exceptional opportunity for emerging rodeo athletes to exhibit their talents and vie for a significant prize.
