As a 4-year-old, Frosted Quinton earned nearly $30,000 at just three futurities through November. The striking bay is among rare company boasting iconic Driftwood bloodlines on both sides.
Sporting the Joe Murray brand, “Q” won the third round of the inaugural Solo Select Heading Futurity under Kaleb Driggers, after his trainer Andy Holcomb piloted him to a reserve championship at Royal Crown Rapid City and a fourth-place finish at the Old West Futurity.
Frosted Quinton’s paternal grandsire was a buckskin full brother to the late Mel Potter’s stallion PC Frenchmans Hayday (“Dinero”) by Sun Frost. And his dam is an own daughter of White Lighting Ike.
“This is the fourth horse out of that mare that my dad and I have owned and loved,” said Adam Teixiera. “They’re good-minded and built correctly from the ground up, plus they’re something anybody can ride. I could head on Q’s half-brother at a pro rodeo and my 13-year-old daughter could head on him the next day at the junior rodeo.”
Although the stud’s oldest babies won’t show until 2030, the sky’s the limit if they are as blessed athletically and as smart as Frosted Quinton.
