Premier Rope Horses is owned by Smith and his father- and mother-in-law, Jason and Jennifer Richey, with children Taylor (Smith), Halie, Cason and Miley.
One of the roping industry’s top 50 owners of 2024 and top 40 of all time, Premier Rope Horses is home to Lead On, the 5-year-old by Corona Cartel that set records when he won $104,000 for four runs at the Old West Futurity in Wallsburg, Utah, in July 2024.
Premier Rope Horses is also home to mares like Apache Promise, who Smith rode at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the end of her final futurity season and who’s already amassed over $142,000 in lifetime earnings at just 7. They also own Hello Lashes, daughter Miley’s mare, who Smith rode at the 2024 NFR. The Richeys own Call Sally, too, a mare that Chris Dawson showed to a finals spot in the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity.
Premier Rope Horses also own One Smart Pistola, who was a standout futurity mare for A&C Racing and Roping, and they’re set to cross her on their own stallion—Bet Hesa Ginnin.
