INCENTIVES: Riata Championship

Forty years ago, newlyweds Bobby Joe and Renee Jane Cudd launched Cudd Quarter Horses, determined to breed sound, tough working horses for the ranch and performance arena. Though Renee lost Bobby Joe in 2005, his legacy continues every day through the quality horses raised through their program.

Built upon the outstanding genetics of AQHA Supreme Champion Goldseeker Bars, Cudd’s program produces horses renowned for their versatility and good looks.

Standing two young stallions, One Time Genuine, a son of One Time Pepto, and the Metallic Cat son Metallic Gray, Cudd Quarter Horses is also part of the historic syndicate that owns The Darkk Side. 

Cudd’s renowned genetics are available each June through their annual production sale. Cudd-bred sale graduates made waves in 2024, including Metallic Katrina by Metallic Gray, who claimed the Riata Pro Futurity Championship with Cash Duty, and One Time Hydrive by One Time Genuine who won the Elite Breeder’s Incentive and banked $9,000 with Brandi McDowell at the Gold Buckle Futurities Breakaway Roping. Another sale grad, Hotrod Song carried Taylor Munsell to her fourth National Finals Breakaway Roping.

Relentless PYC, who is out of the Cudd mare Chars Gun, made history with Miles Baker after claiming the first ARHFA Old West Roping 4 & Under Futurity title and $50,000.

“Those Metallic Grays are looking super good in the roping pen,” Renee said, noting that both are Riata Championship enrolled. “We’re excited about the future of all the Riata colts.”
