Some Kinda Stevie will be shown at roping futurities this year, and Bubba and Madison Garcia are excited to see his first foals hit the ground this spring.
The 6-year-old stallion was attractive to the Garcias because they’d ridden others in his dam’s family and loved them. Some Kinda Sweety is by $3.5 million cutting sire Sweet Lil Pepto (with bonus Sugar Bars speed on the bottom side). And she’s out of Some Kinda Memories—an own daughter of Smart Little Lena out of an own daughter of Freckles Playboy.
And he’s by NCHA Open Futurity champion Stevie Rey Von—the third-ranked producer of winning rope horses in 2025. His roping progeny earned $383,406 last year and include Trevor Brazile’s Pride And Joyy—winner of $431,551 at roping futurities—and Tripp Townsend’s Elon Von, on which Bubba Garcia earned almost $28,000 last year.
“Some Kinda Stevie was started in cutting and made an easy transition to a reined cow horse headed to the Snaffle Bit Futurity,” said Madison. “And he just as easily transitioned into becoming a standout head horse for me. I barely got a barrier to be third-high callback in the 2025 Riata 12.5 Championship on him.”
