Clay Smith

Clay Smith is a two-time PRCA world champion header from Broken Bow, Oklahoma. The eight-time NFR qualifier has had his PRCA card since 2012, and he’s never not qualified for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo since his first appearance there in 2015.

Smith won his first title with Paul Eaves in 2018, and he repeated the next year in 2019 in a split title with Wesley Thorp.

Smith grew up winning dummy ropings across the country, and along with his brother Jake appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to demonstrate rope tricks as a kid. He’s named after seven-time World Champion Clay O’Brien Cooper.

Smith’s got a string of horses now with his Premier Rope Horses, but he first rose to fame on Marty—the legendary grade gelding that Smith won both gold buckles aboard.
