Premier Rope Horse’s Nu One Time Blues has been to town as a rope horse three times, but that hasn’t stopped him from dominating—including winning the 2023 American Rope Horse Futurity Association World Championship in the 4-year-old heeling in Fort Worth’s John Justin Arena October 20.
The 2022 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity finalist by One Time Pepto out of Nu Bay Be Blue by Nu Cash is under the direction of Joseph Harrison, already a three-time ARHFA World Champion and now two-time ARHFA 4-Year-Old Incentive titleist.
“I got him sometime in June,” Harrison said. “Matt Koch rode him for the cow horse deal and won 10th on him last year at the Snaffle Bit Futurity. It’s obvious he’s a talented young horse. He’s got a ton of feel, he’s very alert, he’s real fast and he’s real strong. Once we got headed in a good direction, it’s just been fun. The first time I took him was at Rock Springs when I roped a leg on him to win second, but I still won fourth anyway. I won the Platinum Medal on him at Guthrie, and now we won the 4-year-old and he’s second callback tonight. Honestly, he’s just a sweet colt.”
Harrison was 931.02 on four head, worth $25,000 for the 4-year-old Incentive win. This is the first year the 4-year-old has been run with its own short round, and Harrison will rope again at 5 p.m. CT (streaming on chclivescoring.com.)
Harrison has the help of two-time PRCA World Champion Header Clay Smith, who operates Premier Rope Horses with his father-in-law, Jason Richey.
