When a horse’s hips come underneath the rope, you lose control of the steer and quality of the handle. In this video tip, brought to you by Genuine Billy Cook Saddles, Tate Kirchenschlager discusses some drills that will help keep your horse’s hip pushed to the left and driving up through their right shoulder in the turn.

“By doing these drills, it’ll make it to where, when you run up there and rope and you pull your slack and pick your hand up, the first thing he is going to do is his shoulders are going to come up. Then you’re going to use your right leg, and his hip is going to come over, and then you have him set up in the turn how you want.”
