Team ropers are back in Calgary, Alberta, for the 2024 Rocky Mountain Cup June 10. In the same fashion as the Calgary Stampede, the roster is set off invitation, featuring 30 teams invited to compete.

In 2023, Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin took home the Rocky Mountain Cup title and $13,518 a man. Proctor and Medlin roped their final steer in 6.6 seconds in the sudden-death round of four to win the title, plus the duo placed in the first round with a 5.6 to earn the payday.

Here’s what you need to know about the 2024 Rocky Mountain Cup team roping.

When is the 2024 Rocky Mountain Cup?

The Rocky Mountain Cup team roping is Wednesday, June 10, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. (MST).

What is the format of the Rocky Mountain Cup?

The Rocky Mountain Cup is two complete long rounds with the top eight in the average on two head advancing to the Semifinals. The top four from the Semifinals will advance to the Showdown.

Rocky Mountain Cup payout

The two long rounds of the Rocky Mountain Cup team roping will pay eight places:

  • 1st: $2,127.50/man
  • 2nd: $1,850.00/man
  • 3rd: $1,572.50/man
  • 4th: $1,295.00/man
  • 5th: $1,017.50/man
  • 6th: $740.00/man
  • 7th: $462.50/man
  • 8th: $185.00/man

The Semifinals will pay $1,000 for fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth. The Finals will pay four places:

  • 1st: $12,500/man
  • 2nd: $7,500/man
  • 3rd: $5,000/man
  • 4th: $2,500/man

Money won at the Rocky Mountain Cup will count toward the 2024 PRCA world standings. The Rocky Mountain Cup will also count toward the 2024 PRCA Playoff Series standings.

Who is invited to the Rocky Mountain Cup?

There are 30 teams invited to the Rocky Mountain Cup. The top five headers and heelers from the 2023 CPRA final standings, top 15 headers and heelers from the 2023 PRCA world standings and the top 10 headers and heelers from the 2024 PRCA world standings (as of May 7, 2024) not already qualified.
