The Steer Report Matters More Than Ever in Round 9
This is the round where records fall at the NFR, but the current 3.3-second record has stood since 2009, with only one tie.
NFR Steers

Round 9 has seen the fastest runs of the National Finals Rodeo in years past, with Chad Masters and Jade Corkill breaking the world record here with a 3.3-second run in 2009, and Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira tying it in 2017. Did anyone get the steers to do it in 2022?

Round 9 Team Roping Draw

Riley Minor and Brady Minor: 32

Jake Orman and Brye Crites had this steer in Round 3 and got the steer down in 4.4 seconds. He should be a good one for them to rebound with. Driggers got this one around the neck and Junior roped a leg on him in Round 6. He’s just medium.

Lightning Aguilera and Jonathan Torres: 14

Tyler Wade and Trey Yates made a 4.8-second run on him, but it was only longer because Yates bobbled his dally. Rhen Richard missed him in Round 6.

Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp: 39

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins jackpotted this one to be 5.9 in Round 3. Lightning Aguilera and Jonathan Torres got him down in 4.1 in Round 6.

Chad Masters and Joseph Harrison: 35

Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler were 4.1 on him in Round 3. They missed him the first time in the run through, so he’ll have an extra run on him. Wesley Thorp roped a leg on him to be 4.0+5.

JR Dees and Levi Lord: 21

Good medium steer that Chad Masters and Joseph Harrison knocked down in 4.3 seconds. Brye Crites roped a leg on him to be 9.2.

Tyler Wade and Trey Yates: 31

Riley Minor split the horns, fished and lost it on this one in Round 3. Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves were 8.9 on him with a leg in Round 6.

Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler: 55

Jade Corkill got a leg on this one to be 9.1 in Round 3, and Chad Masters and Joseph Harrison won the go-round on him in Round 6. He’s medium and steps left.

Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves: 44

This is the steer Lightning Aguilera missed in Round 3. He should be medium. Riley Minor got the barrier on him in Round 6 to be 14.4.

Tanner Tomlinson and Patrick Smith: 25

Another good one. JR Dees and Levi Lord knocked him down in 4.3 seconds in Round 3, and Jade Corkill roped a leg to be 9.1 on him in Round 6.

Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin: 41

This is the steer that Clay Smith had an illegal head catch on in Round 3. He’s just medium, and Tanner Tomlinson and Patrick Smith got him down in 4.3 seconds.

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins: 47

This is a good steer. Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves were 3.8 on him in Round 3, and Tyler Wade spun him to be 3.6 but Trey Yates got a leg.

Clay Smith and Jake Long: 17

Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin had this one in Round 3 and were 4.3 with a solid run. He’s on the smaller end of the pen, and he could be a step to the left. Andrew Ward missed him in Round 6.

Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill: 60

This is the great steer that Tanner Tomlinson and Patrick Smith won the go-round on this one with a 3.6 in Round 3. Clay Smith missed him in Round 6, but Clay Tryan won’t miss this opportunity.

Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira: 27

Cody Snow missed this one in Round 3, but JR Dees and Levi Lord got him caught in 4.7 seconds.

Jake Orman and Brye Crites: 29

Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira got a leg on this steer, but they’d have been 5.1 in Round 3. Coleman Proctor missed him in Round 6.
