As the best collegiate athletes take on the marathon that is the College National Finals, we’ve got round-by-round results as the 2023 CNFR progresses.

The first round of team roping at the CNFR was strong with the dynamic team of Slade Wood and Logan Moore dominating the leaderboard with a fast time of 5.2. This brings the team to a total time of 10.0 on two, and the remainder of their week in Casper looks extremely promising as they move into the first performance on Tuesday, June 13.
Wood is a freshman at Southwest Texas Junior College with 2023 being his first trip to the CNFR. Though he isn’t a stranger to the big leagues, Wood won the first round and was second in the average at Cheyenne Frontier Days in 2022. Despite being known for his success in the steer roping, he has a bright week ahead of him in Casper team roping and calf roping.
His partner, Logan Moore, is a junior at Wharton County Junior College. This will be his third CNFR in his college rodeo career, and his success in the first two days has shines light on his tenth-place finish in the average in 2022.
Wood and Moore’s striking teamwork will be a force to be reckoned with as they continue to advance throughout their time in Casper.
The twin team roping partners, Cole and Cobie Dodds, took second with a 6.0-second run. The 23-year-old cowboys have qualified for the CNFR four years straight, with impressive placings to boast for the previous three years. In 2020 and 2021 the brothers placed in the top five in the average, and in 2022 the Dodds were 3rd.

The fourth and final night of round three at the College National Finals Rodeo included a leaderboard full of powerful and unparalleled teams. Cam Jensen of the University of Wyoming and Tanner McInerney from Gillette College posted a 4.2-second run to take the win in the third round.
The top leaders heading into the short go Saturday night include Slade Wood and Logan Moore in the No. 1 position, Cobie and Cole Dodds in second and rounding out the top three were Wyatt Bray and Cutter Pake Thomison.
Wood and Moore have dominated the average leaderboard with a time of 16.3 seconds on three, a whole two second lead ahead of the Dodds twins. This gives the team a positive attitude as they start the Saturday night short go.
Wood is a freshman at Southwest Texas Junior College with 2023 being his first trip to the CNFR. His partner, Logan Moore, is a junior at Wharton County Junior College. 2023 will be Moore’s third trip to the CNFR.
Wood and Moore will be a force to be reckoned with and a duo to watch not only tomorrow, but as they advance in their individual rodeo careers.
Cobie and Cole Dodds, the twin team roping partners from Feather River College, are standing second in the average as they enter the short go. At 18.2 seconds on a total of three, the Dodds are sitting comfortably on the leaderboard at their fourth trip to the CNFR.
In 2020 and 2021 the brothers placed in the top five in the average, and in 2022 the Dodds finished third. Their fourth journey to Casper has been successful, and with their impressive teamwork, they have a good chance of finishing in the top five for the fourth consecutive year.
Wyatt Bray and Cutter Pake Thomison complete the top three in the average standings, their total on three was a close 18.4 seconds.
Bray is a senior at Tarleton State University, and when it comes to the CNFR and team roping in general, his last name is well-known. His father, Ken Bray, and older brother, Paden Bray, have both competed at the CNFR. Wyatt has placed at all three of his qualifications to the Bob Fiest Invitational, and standing at 6 ft 9 inches tall, he is a standout college rodeo athlete.
His partner, Cutter Pake Thomison, is in his second year at Western Texas College in Snyder. Thomison, who is fourth in the PRCA Resistol Rookie Team Roping standings, is competing in his debut CNFR this year.
As the College National Finals draw to a close, the average leaders are tough and prepared to compete in the short go Saturday night to determine the 2023 champion team.
