Colorado’s Jessica Amicarella and Hawaii’s Riley Pedro took home the number-one spot in the #13 at the World Series in Gill, Colo. Their team turned in a time of 36.96-seconds on four head to split $3,069.
“The steers were strong—our first two steers were really strong,” Pedro said. “We ran them down there and just caught. Every round we drew a really strong steer. Then we came back high-call. I think we needed to be about 12-seconds in the short round and we had one that was dirty strong and ran off. She did a good job and stuck him and handled him for me and I kicked around and caught him by two feet—it was easy.”
Amicarella and Pedro have been roping together a lot more in the past four months in the #13 ropings as well as at the amateur rodeos.
“We did some amateur rodeos this summer,” Amicarella said. “I’ve actually roped with him more consistently in the past four months probably. We did okay, we didn’t do great but at the World Series we will rope together.”
As both of them enjoying the sport of team roping, Pedro works as a horse shoer in Colorado and rides horses and makes young ones to sell, and Amicarella owns her own eyelash bar in Windsor, Colo., called The Lash House.
“It’s not a hair salon but it’s an eyelash extension bar,” Amicarella explained. “We do eyelash extensions, full-body waxing and spray tanning and that kind of thing. I’ve owned this company for about a year now, but I’ve done eyelash extensions for about six years. And I’m a mom so between those two things I stay pretty busy.”
Both Pedro and Amicarella are married with children. Amicarella has two boys, and Pedro has one child with a baby boy on the way.
