It was all about Miles Baker and 4-year-old Relentless PYC, by the Flag Ranch-raised and race-bred stallion First Prize Diver and out of the Playgun daughter Chars Gun, in the American Rope Horse Futurity Association’s Sun Circuit Heading Pre-Futurity with a 679.66 worth $7,740.
Baker earned $14,834 total in Scottsdale with checks in Intermediate heeling along with the Open and Pre-Futurities in heading.

“I’ve had her since she was 2,” Baker said of the filly he calls Nala. “She’s a really talented mare and I’ve expected her to be a winner all along. She has a sweet nature, scores great and can absolutely fly. She’s a really cool mare.”
At exactly 15 hands, Baker said Nala’s size is perfect, along with her “huge hip and little bitty neck.” Baker and Trevor Brazile, who is out of commission a few more months following shoulder surgery, are partners on Nala with Solo Select. They’re excited that her dam has just been bred to The Darkk Side for a 2025 baby.
Round One of the Heading Pre-Futurity was dominated by Little Sug Clo with Thad Ward at the reins for High Call Equine, and Round Two was won by Revolutionary Outlaw under Tate Kirchenschlager for Southern Ranches of Waxahachie, Texas. Ward went on to win the Intermediate aggregate on another High Call horse named Heavys Sug by Travs Little Sug out of Heavys Version, with a score of 450.65 on two to earn $3,700.
