Lightning Round: Round 9 NFR Steer Report
World records could fall on a soft, light pen of great-handling steers in Round 9 at the 2021 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

744 Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich

Clay Tryan and Jake Long were second in Round 6 on this steer in 3.9 seconds, and Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves took a no-time on him in Round 3.

748 Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins

This is the day-money steer—Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich won Round 6 with a 3.6 on him, and Quinn Kesler and Joseph Harrison were 7.6 +5 on him in Round 3.

745 Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin

Erich Rogers and Paden Bray had him roped in 4.2 seconds in Round 6, and Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan missed him in Round 3. This steer was middle of herd and should give them a chance to win.

755 Derrick Begay and Brady Minor

Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp went 4.3 on this one in Round 6, and Tyler Wade and Trey Yates were 4.2 + 5 with him in Round 3. Middle of the herd steer.

753 Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler

Tyler Wade and Trey Yates missed him in Round 6. Erich Rogers and Paden Bray were 4.6 + 5 on him in Round 3. Smaller, fast handling steer. Medium plus in the run-through.

758 Clint Summers and Ross Ashford

Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler were 4.0 on him in Round 6, and Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp missed him in Round 3. Medium-minus. If they get out at the barrier they have a good chance of winning the round.

751 Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins roped him in 4.8, while Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin went at him to be 3.8 +5.

742 Tyler Wade and Trey Yates

Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira made a good run at 4.8 on this one in Round 6, while Clint Summers and Ross Ashford were 4.1 +5 +30 with some bad luck in Round 3. Medium. This steer took a step left in the run-through.

750 Clay Tryan and Jake Long

Clint Summers and Ross Ashford were 5.2 on this one in Round 6, and Clay Smith and Jade Corkill were 4.3 on him in Round 3. One of the better steers in the herd.

730 Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins III were 4.6 on him in Round 3, then Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan were 3.8 + 5 on him in Round 6. Taller, framer steer and won’t handle as fast as some of the steers in here.

746 Clay Smith and Jade Corkill

Derrick Begay and Brady Minor got him in 4.1 in Round 6, while Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich roped him in 4.8 in Round 3. Medium. Middle of the herd; nothing special.

743 Erich Rogers and Paden Bray

Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin took a NT on this one in Round 6, but Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler were 4.2 on him in Round 3. Straight and will give them a good chance for a go-round buckle.

719 Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira

This is the extra that Quinn Kesler and Joseph Harrison had in Round 6 to be 3.9. The header missed him when running him after Round 3.

757 Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves

Clay Smith and Jade Corkill took a NT on the head side on this one, while Derrick Begay and Brady Minor were 4.4 + 5 on him in Round 3. Medium-plus.

749 Quinn Kesler and Joseph Harrison

Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves were 4.0 + 5 in Round 6, while Clay Tryan and Jake Long missed him in Round 3. This steer stepped left and has a bigger set of horns.
