Pro Rodeo Results: Blaster and Lockett Win RODEOHOUSTON and Jump into Top 5 in the PRCA World Standings
For the first time ever, Ty Blasingame and Kyle Lockett teamed up to win RODEOHOUSTON.

Colorado’s Ty Blasingame and California’s Kyle Lockett teamed up to win RODEOHOUSTON (Texas), skyrocketing both men into NFR contention in early March.

Blasingame and Lockett started out their run in Houston, Texas in the Super Series 4. They placed fourth on their first steer with a 5.9-second-run worth $750 a man. They roped their second steer in 7.1 seconds to place third, worth $1,000 a man, and made a comeback on their third steer to tie Coleman Proctor and Ryan Motes with a 4.9-second-run to win the round, worth $2,500 a man, qualifying them to the semifinals with $4,250 a man.

Blasingame and Lockett tied Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp with a 5.2-second-run to win second in the semifinals round, worth $1,500 a man. They won second in the championship round with a 5.4-second-run. Then on their final run to seal the deal, Blasingame and Lockett were 5 seconds flat, worth $50,000 a man. Blasingame and Lockett won a total of $55,750, with $50,000 counting towards the PRCA world standings this year. Blasingame jumped from 10th to first in the PRCA world standings with $71,831.94. Lockett moved from 18th to second with $69,180.13.

Jake Cooper and Caleb Anderson jumped into the top 10 of the PRCA world standings after winning second behind Blasingame and Lockett at RODEOHOUSTON. They roped in the Super Series 2, winning the first round with a 5.7-second-run, worth $3,000 a man, and winning the second round with a 6.4-second-run, worth $3,000 a man. They won third in the third round with a 5.6-second-run, worth $1,000 a man. They advanced to the semifinals qualifier in the number-one spot after banking a total of $7,000 each.

Cooper and Anderson roped in the Wild Card, winning first with a 4.4-second-run, worth $3,000, advancing them to the championship round. They roped their championship steer in 5.2 seconds. Then in the championship shootout, they roped their steer in 5.3 seconds to win second, worth $20,000 a man. Cooper is now seventh and Anderson is fifth in the PRCA world standings with $34,141.52 each.

Matt Sherwood and Tyler Worley roped in the Super Series 4 at RODEOHOUSTON, winning all three rounds with a 5.0-second-run and two 5.3-second-runs, worth a total of $9,000 a man. Then roped in the Wild Card, placing fourth with a 10.9-second-run, worth $750 a man. Sherwood and Worley just broke into the top 15 in the world standings. Sherwood moved from 25th to 14th with $21,771.67. Worley moved from 41st to 15th with $18,195.63. 

Manny Egusquiza Jr. and Dustin Searcy won the Goliad (Texas) County Fair & PRCA Rodeo with a 4.9-second-run, worth $1,094 a man. They also placed second at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo in Mercedes, Texas with a 4.7-second-run, worth $2,209 a man. Egusquiza and Searcy added a total of $3,303 to their earnings.

2018 Resistol Rookie All-Around Champion Tanner Green and current Resistol Rookie contender Paden Bray won Mercedes, Texas with a 4.4-second-run, worth $2,540 a man. This win moved Bray into fifth in the 2019 Resistol Rookie race.
