Pro Rodeo Results Wrap-Up: July 9, 2018
Dustin Egusquiza and Kory Koontz banked a total of $21,204 each as Cowboy Christmas came to an end.

Dustin Egusquiza and Kory Koontz won $21,204 each as Cowboy Christmas came to an end, leading the Fourth-of-July earnings pack in the team roping. 

“We were tired,” Koontz said. “We were wore down. We had to get brakes on the truck. We had two blow outs and we ran a wheel off. He just got this new used trailer and it’s huge. He’s had it three weeks, it’s a 5 horse with a 15 foot short wall. It’s a side load with a big back tack, three rodeos we photo finished.”

They won the Livingston (Montana) Roundup with a 4.0-second run, worth $6,874 each, the Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche, South Dakota with a 4.1-second run, worth $5,329 each, and the Oakley (Utah) Independence Day Rodeo with a 3.5-second run, worth $3,329 each. 

“The morning we’re up at Oakley—I can’t even remember what day that was—I had to get up, drive to Caldwell, get a hub, drive back to Baker, they put the hub on, we left, got to Oakley at 8:20, and by 8:45 we were running our steer,” Koontz said. “And that ended our deal. And we ended it with a bang.”

At the St. Paul (Oregon) Rodeo, they tied Aaron Macy and Wyatt Cox and Marcus Theriot and Cody Doescher for third with a 4.8-second run, worth $2,009 each. At the Molalla (Oregon) Buckeroo Rodeo, Egusquiza and Koontz tied for fourth with Lightening Aguilera and Brady Norman with a 5.3-second run, worth $1,653 each. Egusquiza and Koontz also placed fourth in the second round at the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott, Arizona with a 4.1-second run, worth $1,393 each. 

“I made it a real point to focus on every steer like it was the last one I’m ever going to run,” Koontz said. “I don’t know if that made all the difference in the world, but I felt like I put the energy forward and it paid off.”

Egusquiza and Koontz have a total of $57.488.35 won in the PRCA World Standings putting Egusquiza fourth and Koontz third, respectively.

Aaron Tsinigine and Trey Yates were on fire during the Fourth run, winning a total of $20,331 each. They won the Cody (Wyoming) Stampede after roping their steer in 4.1 seconds, worth $9,254 each. They tied for second with Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp in Belle Fourche, South Dakota with a 4.3-second run, worth $4,488 each. Then at the Eugene (Oregon) Pro Rodeo, Tsinigine and Yates tied Ryan Reed and Wyatt Hanson for third with a 5.0-second run, worth $2,494 each. Then onto Livingston, Montana where they tied with Riley and Brady Minor and Kellan and Jhett Johnson for seventh with a 4.6-second run, worth $1,806 each. They snuck into the average in World’s Oldest Rodeo after roping two steers in 13.8 seconds to win eighth, worth $299 each. They also placed second in the second round with a 5.1-second run, worth $1,990 each. Tsinigine is currently ninth in the PRCA World Standings with $44,797.19 won. Yates is fourth with $56,893.04.

Clay Tryan and Travis Graves won the Eugene Pro Rodeo with a 4.5-second run, worth $3,384 each. The duo placed second at the Greeley Stampede after roping three head in 17.8 seconds, worth $3,381 each. They won the first round with a 5.2-second run, worth $2,592 each and won second in the finals round with a 6.0-second run, worth $1,068 each. Tryan and Graves added a total of $16,756 to their earnings putting Tryan on the number-10 spot in the PRCA World Standings with $37,570.28, and Graves in the the 15 spot with $33,713.14 won.

2018 Resitol Rookie Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan were consistent over the Fourth run adding a total of $15,752 to each of their earnings. They won the Big Fork (Montana) Summer ProRodeo, stopping the clock in 5.4 seconds, worth $1,622 each. They placed third at the Cody Stampede with a 4.8-second run, worth $7,306 each. The duo tied Kelsey Parchman and Dustin Davis for fourth at the Livingston Roundup with a 4.3-second run, worth $4,341 each. They placed fifth at the Drummond (Montana) PRCA Rodeo with a 5.7-second run, worth $338 each. They tied with Luke Brown and Jake Long with a 4.6-second run for seventh at the Oakley (Utah) Independence Day Rodeo, worth $1,246 each. Hall and Tryan tied Matt Sherwood and Walt Woodard at the Black Hills Roundup with a 5.2-second run for ninth, worth $561 each. Then at the Greeley Stampede, they tied for sixth in the second round with J.D. Yates and Ryon Tittel, Tyler Waters and Cody Hogan, Cale Markham and Jake Clay and Rhett Anderson and Coleby Payne with a 5.2-second run, worth $338 each. Hall is currently first in the Resistol Rookie Header Standings and 24th in the PRCA World Standings with $26,512.01. Tryan is now 10th with $39,882.03.

Luke Brown and Jake Long added $14,295 to their season earnings over the Fourth of July-run. Along with tying Hall and Tryan at the Oakley Independence Day Rodeo, they won the World’s Oldest Rodeo after roping two head in 12.0 seconds, worth $3,433 each and placed third in the first round with a 5.9-second run, worth $1,692 each. At the Greeley Stampede the duo won third in the average after roping three head in 18.0 seconds, worth $2,874 each. They placed fifth in the second round with a 5.0-second run, worth $1,240 each and fifth in the finals with a 6.8-second run, worth $401 each. At the Cody Stampede, Brown and Long tied Lane Ivy and Blaine Vick, Jeff Flenniken and Jake Minor, Jay Tittel and Cullen Teller and Joshua and Jonathan Torres with a 5.0 second run, worth $3,409 a man.

Garrett Tonozzi and Joe Mattern won the Greeley Stampede after roping three head in 17.4 seconds, worth $3,888 each and first in the finals round with a 5.2-second run, worth $1,291 each. They also placed sixth at the World’s Oldest Rodeo after roping two head in 13.3 seconds, worth $1,194 each. They placed fifth in the first round with a 6.3-second run, worth $1,692 each.

Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp not only tied with Tsinigine and Yates at Belle Fourche, South Dakota, with a 4.2-second run, worth $4,488 each, they placed third in the average at St. Paul, Oregon with 10.2 second on two head, worth $3,659 each. They tied with Shane Erickson and Brent Falcon and Kolton Schmidt and Cole Davison in the first round for sixth with a 4.6-second run, worth $717 each. They placed fifth in the average at Prescott, Arizona after roping two head in 13.0 seconds, worth $1,642 each. They tied for eighth in the first round with J.B. James Jr. and Cesar de la Cruz and Tanner Baldwin and Seth Hall with a 6.6-second run, worth $66 each. At the Killdeer (North Dakota) Mountain Roundup Rodeo, Snow and Thorp placed sixth with a 5.2-second run, worth $753 each. They also placed eighth at the Big Fork Summer ProRodeo with a 10.5-second run, worth $141 each. Snow and Thorp added $11,466 to their PRCA World Standing earnings moving Snow to the number-two spot with $58,574.18 won, and Thorp is fifth with $54,884.85.
