Gut Check Time: Where the PRCA Team Roping Circuit Leaders Won in August  
The team ropers leading each PRCA circuit in 2025 have been cashing in across the country.

With less than a month left in the regular 2025 ProRodeo season, these team roping circuit leaders are seeing wins both in their territory and across the nation.  

Some are keeping it local while some are trying to make an NFR appearance.  

Columbia River 

Riley and Brady Minor – August earnings: $27,877 

The Minor brothers are closing in on another NFR appearance, with the team sitting ninth and eighth in the world, as of Sept. 5. They lead the Columbia River Circuit with $36.449.  

  • Heber City, UT (non-circuit): won sixth for $2,767 a man 
  • Preston, ID (non-circuit): won third for $3,131 a man 
  • Hermiston, OR: placed third in the second round and eighth in the average for $3,846 a man 
  • Bozeman, MT (non-circuit): first place for $3,685 a man 
  • Missoula, MT (non-circuit): first place for $2,745 a man 
  • Omak, WA: placed fifth for $1,674 a man 
  • New Plymouth, ID (non-circuit): won second for $2,006 a man 
  • Lynden, WA: won second for $1,466 a man  
  • Moses Lake, WA: placed 10th for $1,262 a man 
  • Kennewick, WA: placed fourth in the average and first in the finals for $3,021 a man 
  • Bremerton, WA: placed 14th for $516 a man 
  • Calgary, AB (non-circuit): won fifth for $1,758 a man 

California 

Cutter Machado and Dalton PearceAugust earnings: $1,019 

Former circuit champs Cutter Machado and Dalton Pearce are leading the race in the California Circuit with $27,762 and $26,377 won, respectively.  

  • Santa Barbara, CA: placed seventh for $1,019 a man 

Wilderness 

Jake Smith and Douglas RichAugust earnings: $14,523 

Jake Smith and Douglas Rich are in the hunt for an NFR appearance, with the team currently sitting No. 13 and No. 15 in the World, as of Sept. 5. They are also leading the Wilderness Circuit standings with $35,914 won. 

  • Dodge City, KS (non-circuit): placed eighth in the average for $488 a man 
  • Idaho Falls, ID: won fifth for $2,080 a man 
  • Hermiston, OR (non-circuit): tied for third in the average for $4,365 a man 
  • Homedale, ID: placed fifth for $1,485 a man 
  • Gooding, ID: tied for eighth for $1,933 a man 
  • Bremerton, WA (non-circuit): tied for 15th for $115 a man 
  • Tremonton, UT: tied for eighth for $1,767 a man 
  • Walla Walla, WA (non-circuit): won seventh for $2,290 a man 

Montana 

Brady Tryan and Calgary SmithAugust earnings: $19,653 

Montana Circuit leaders Brady Tryan and Calgary Smith are leading the standings with $27,119 and $29,362 won, respectively  

  • Great Falls, MT: tied for the first and second round wins and won the average to for $4,385 a man 
  • Sidney, MT: won third for $1,766 a man 
  • Glasgow, MT: won the second round for $1,340 a man 
  • Chinook, MT: won third for $2,055 a man 
  • Cascade, MT: tied for second for $2,298 a man 
  • Kalispell, MT: tied for sixth for $1,372 a man 
  • Rapid City, SD (non-circuit): tied for sixth to win $1,894 a man 
  • Miles City, MT: tied for third to win $1,047 a man 
  • Plains, MT: tied for fourth for $1,187 a man 
  • Dillon, MT: tied for the win for $2,309 a man 

Mountain States 

Clayton Van AkenAugust earnings: $12,702 

Clayton Van Aken has teamed up with Resistol Rookie of the Year contender Reece Wadhams for the summer. Van Aken leads the Mountains States Circuit heading standings with $38,888. 

  • Steamboat Springs, CO: won second for $902 a man 
  • Yuma, CO: tied for second for $1,226 a man 
  • Loveland, CO: tied for eighth to win $1,152 a man 
  • Rawlins, WY: first placed for $2,032 a man 
  • Bozeman, MT (non-circuit): tied for the win for $3,685 a man 
  • Steamboat Springs, CO: tied for the win $1,121 a man 
  • Pueblo, CO: won fourth in the first round for $810 a man 
  • Parowan, UT (non-circuit): placed fifth to win $1,774 a man 

Trey YatesAugust earnings: $21,371  

Trey Yates has teamed up with Luke Brown this year and is sitting on the bubble of the Top 15 of the world standings as of Sept. 5 with $89,165 won. He also leads the Mountain States Circuit heeling standings with $32,114.  

  • Dodge City, KS (non-circuit): tied for third in the first round for $2,279 a man 
  • Castle Rock, CO: tied for 14th for $547 a man 
  • Hermiston, OR (non-circuit): tied for fourth in the first round for $2,598 a man 
  • Caldwell, ID (non-circuit): won the first round, and placed eighth in the average for $4,602 a man 
  • Canby, OR (non-circuit): won third in the average for $2,668 a man 
  • Bremerton, WA (non-circuit): tied for 15th for $115 a man 
  • Pueblo, CO: third in the second round for $1,100 a man 
  • Calgary, AB (non-circuit): tied for seventh in the second round and fourth in the finals for $5,648 a man 
  • Filer, ID (non-circuit): placed seventh for $1,814 a man 

Turquoise  

Derrick Begay and Colter ToddAugust earnings: $11,551 

Derrick Begay and Colter Todd are on track to make another NFR, with the team witting No. 2 in the world with $150,890 won onthe year. The team also leads the Turquoise Circuit standings with $19,825 won.  

  • Hermiston, OR (non-circuit): tied for sixth in the first round for $1,039 a man 
  • Lovington, NM: sixth in the second round for $1,031 a man 
  • Gooding, ID (non-circuit): tied for 11th for $879 a man 
  • Burley, ID (non-circuit): tied for second to win $2,266 a man 
  • Bremerton, WA (non-circuit): tied for second to win $4,301 a man

Texas 

Clay TryanAugust earnings: $1,204 

Clay Tryan is teamed up with Eddie Medina and is leading the Texas Circuit heading standings with $27,638.  

  • Wichita Falls, TX: won third for $1,204 a man  

Kaden ProfiliAugust earnings: $7,676 

Kaden Profili is making a run for his second NFR appearance with partner Brenten Hall and currently sits No. 16 in the World with $90,874 won. He also leads the Texas Circuit heeling standings with $20,497 won.  

  • Lovington, NM (non-circuit): sixth in the first round for $1,031 a man 
  • Hermiston, OR (non-circuit): tied for third in the second round for $3,222 a man 
  • Kennewick, WA (non-circuit): tied for fifth in the second round for $1,151 a man 
  • Bremerton, WA (non-circuit): tied for 11th for $1,118 a man

Father-son duo Braxton and Brad Culpepper are in the lead of the Southeastern Circuit standings with $22,518 won on the year.

  • Mound City, KS (non-circuit): placed third for $915 a man 
  • Ocala, FL: placed sixth for $275 

First Frontier 

Chase and Riley Quinn- August earnings: $3,041 

The First Frontier Circuit is led by brothers Chase and Riley Quinn, with $12,111 and $11,278 won, respectively.  

  • Woodstown Pilesgrove, NJ: placed sixth for $303 a man 
  • Attica, NY: placed fourth for $179 a man 
  • Woodstown Pilesgrove, NJ: won first for $1,751 a man 
  • Lake Luzerne, NY: won first for $639 a man 
  • Lake Luzerne, NY: placed fourth for $169 a man 

Maple Leaf 

Kavis Drake and Denim Ross- August earnings: $13,130 

Kavis Drake and Denim Ross have the Maple Leaf Circuit standings lead with $33,210 won this year.  

  • Idaho Falls, ID (non-circuit): won fourth for $2,288 a man 
  • Hermiston, OR (non-circuit): fifth in the second round for $2,287 a man 
  • Kalispell, MT (non-circuit): tied for second for $2,402 a man 
  • Gooding, ID (non-circuit): tied for eighth for $1,933 a man 
  • Calgary, AB: tied for eighth in the first round, tied for fourth in the second round, and were fifth in the semifinals for $4,220 a man 

Badlands  

Guy Howell and Logan SchliinzAugust earnings: $8,008 

In the Badlands Circuit lead are Guy Howell and Logan Schliinz, with $27,758 won.

  • Douglas, WY (non-circuit): won first for $1,696 a man 
  • Miles City, MT (non-circuit): placed fifth to win $571 a man 
  • Maynard, MN (non-circuit): won sixth for $159 a man 
  • Interior, SD: tied for second to win $682 a man 
  • Kildeer, ND: won first for $1,697 a man 
  • Kildeer, ND: placed third to win $1,199 a man
