NFR Roping Steer

Round 5 marks the second run on the smallest, harder-running pen of steers for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo team ropers.

This set saw three no-times in Round 2, but otherwise gave ropers a tough round with a 4.9 winning last hole.

Round 5 Team Roping Draw

Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves: 12

Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp made a solid 4.9-second run on this steer in Round 2. He’s medium plus.

Tanner Tomlinson and Patrick Smith: 38

This is the steer on which Clay Tryan had an illegal head catch and tried to fish. He should be medium plus to let these two make another solid run and stay in the average.

Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin: 13

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins made a sharp run on this steer to win second in the day money with a 4.3. He’s medium plus. He’s one we moved down from the medium-sized set, so he may be a tick bigger.

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins: 18

Medium plus. Dustin Egusquiza missed him in Round 2.

Clay Smith and Jake Long: 15

Rhen Richard had to fish on this steer in Round 2 to be 10.1. He should just be medium plus.

Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill: 9

Their steer should be medium plus. Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira were 4.4 on him, so he oughta be good.

Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira: 22

Logan Medlin roped a leg on this steer in Round 2, adding plus-five to their 4.9-second run.

Jake Orman and Brye Crites: 6

Chad Masters and Joseph Harrison got a leg on this steer to be 9.3. He should be medium-plus.

Riley Minor and Brady Minor: 8

This was an extra, and he’s stronger and fights the handle.

Lightning Aguilera and Jonathan Torres: 5

JR Dees missed this steer in Round 2. He’s medium in a pen of mostly medium-plus steers.

Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp: 4

This was the day-money steer in Round 2: the steer Clay Smith and Jake Long got around the neck in 4.1-seconds with a quick heel shot.

Chad Masters and Joseph Harrison: 3

Lightning Aguilera missed him in Round 2. He should just be medium.

JR Dees and Levi Lord: 2

He’s medium, and he hopped pretty fast around the corner. Jake Orman and Brye Crites were 4.8 on him in Round 2.

Tyler Wade and Trey Yates: 10
