The Spicer Gripp Memorial Roping began in 1994 to honor the late Hereford, Texas resident Spicer Gripp.
Each August, the event brings in the world’s best as well as locals to the Spicer Gripp Memorial Center. They all compete on a long score, with strong cattle in team roping, steer roping, calf roping and breakaway roping.
Proceeds and donations fund the Spicer Gripp Memorial Scholarship Fund at West Texas A&M University.
