Postponed in 2023, the Badlands Bits & Spurs Futurity will relaunch in 2024 as the roping industry’s premier 4-year-old showcase.

J.D. Yates and Peppys Stylin Lena handily won the average at the Badlands Bits and Spurs 5-6-year-old maturity.

In the 5 and 6-year-old Badlands Bits and Spurs heading futurity, Shane Phillips defeated J.D. Yates, with the help of his brother and borrowed heel horse from Yates.

Set to pay $100,000, the Badlands Bits & Spurs Rope Horse Futurity pits the best 4-year-olds head to head.

The 2022 Badlands Bits & Spurs Futurity will add $25,000 and runs August 24-25 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Trevor Brazile claimed first on Tuckin Away Buckles and third place on Rowdy Spook Affair in the four-steer average of the 4-year-old heading futurity, while John Philipp won the 4-year-old heeling futurity aboard Bill Cappel’s BMC Metallic Gem at the Badlands Bits & Spurs Futurity.
