The 4-Year-Old Futurity has $20,000 in added money, while the 5-&-6-Year-Old Derby offers $5,000 in added money. With $1,000 entry fees per horse and 75% payback, the Badlands Bits & Spurs Futurity will dole out thousands to the winners.

How is The Badlands Bits & Spurs Futurity Judged?

Unlike other futurities, the Badlands Bits & Spurs Futurity pays the go-rounds on time and the average on the judges’ scores.

“The way we have it set up, the judges start with a middle score with 70, and you can go 10 points up or down in every one of the categories: the box, the rate, the handle and the face,” Harris explained. “It’s not a specific where you can only lose one point. If you break a barrier it’s 5 points, if you rope a leg it’s a 3-point deduction.”
