The 2022 ARHFA World Championship Heeling Short Round is set to pay first place $28,000, and the 5-year-old son of Bobby Lewis’s AQHA World Champion CSR Dual Glo, Sevens Star Glo, is primed to hang on to his top spot with Cade Rice.
But before the final flag falls in the Oct. 21 roping in Fort Worth’s John Justin Arena, 25 of the sport’s best young horses have to battle it out, and anything can happen. Here’s a breakdown of the pedigrees and more of the horses in the short round:
- Two horses—Meradas First Diver, ridden by Junior Nogueira, and Montana By Morning, ridden by Trevor Kirchenschlager—are bred for speed on the top side. Meradas First Diver is by First Prize Diver by PYC Paint Your Wagon, crossed on a Highbrow Cat mare. Montana By Morning is by Fly The Red Eye and out of a mare by Montana Doc.
- BamaCat has two colts in the finals: Pistol Bama, ridden by Kollin VonAhn, and RO Roll Tide Dually, ridden by Trevor Brazile.
- CSR Dual Glo, the sire to high call horse Sevens Star Glo, is out of the great AQHA World Champion mare Look At Her Glo,also the dam to J Lows Glo ridden by Bobby Lewis and Joseph Harrison.
