Plenty of the rope horse industry’s best have come through The Solo Select Online Sale, and this Thanksgiving—Nov. 28, 2024—buyers will have a shot at more than 180 performance prospects, elite embryos, stallion prospects, broodmares and performers in the one-day-only online sale.
The sale is stacked with incentive-eligible offspring, from Riata, Pink and Ruby nominated to mares selling with breedings to Solo Select Stallions like The Animal, This Catt Shines or Plain Catty to get the buyer into the 2025 Solo Select Stallion Incentive simply by breeding to one of the program studs.
The sale opens at 8 a.m. CT, with lots closing starting at 3 p.m. CT, all Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.
Here are just a few of our favorites in The Select Online Thanksgiving Sale after studying the sale catalog.
Lot 106 | Grayy
2022 gray stallion, Peptoboonsmal x ARC Ruby Playgunia by Playgun
This is a rare find and a stallion prospect to build a program around. He’s a son of the late, great Peptoboonsmal, out of one of the winningest daughters of Playgun—ARC Ruby Playgunia. He’s on his way to be head-horse size at the end of his 2-year-old year, and he’s been in training with Solo’s own 2-year-old specialist, Charles Dorsey.
Lot 218 | ’25 embryo, The Darkk Side x Specialeditionkitty
You can’t get an embryo by The Darkk Side just anywhere, especially out of the Select Genes mare Specialeditionkitty by Metallic Cat. Specialeditionkitty—a gray roan—was a NRCHA Open Finalist with Clayton Edsall, and Solo and Relentless have babies on the way out of her, too, meaning this embryo is destined to have some fancy brothers and sisters in the right hands.
Lot 220 | ’25 embryo, The Notorious B I G x Relentless Glory
Relentless Glory is one of the horses we followed from the start in the Relentless Remuda program, and she went on to win $48,000 in two years of showing with Trevor Brazile and Miles Baker before moving to Select Genes’ program. Of course, The Notorious BIG won $105,262 in his career with Billie Jack Saebens, and the stallion is enrolled in all of the rope horse industry’s major incentives, like Riata, Royal Crown Roping, Gold Buckle and Top Gun.
Lot 403 | Mister Beaujangles
2023 sorrel gelding, The Animal x Tejons Olena by Smart Chic Olena
Dropping this one here because he’s by Solo’s newest Riata stallion, The Animal. The Animal won more than $260,000 in the cutting, including the NCHA Summer Spectacular Derby and the reserve title at the NCHA Futurity. This colt is out of a daughter of Smart Chic Olean, and he’s already 14.1 and 1,010 lbs.
Lot 414 | Vons Have More Fun
2023 black mare, Stevie Rey Von x Playgirls Miss Grace by Mister Dual Pep
Stevie Rey Von 6-and-under offspring won more than the get of any other stallion in the heading in 2024, and they were near the top of the list in the heeling, too. The stallion set records with his offspring of all ages Riata earnings in September, too, and a black filly by him is hard to pass up.
Lot 504 | Metallic Char
2022 grey roan filly, Metallic Rebel x Chars Gun by Playgun
If the dam Chars Gun sounds familiar, you’ve been paying attention. That’s the mom to the Relentless Remuda and Solo Select’s Relentless PYC, the highest-earning futurity horse of 2024. And the sire, Metallic Rebel, is a former NCHA Horse of the Year who earned $438,315 in his cutting career and is already producing winners in the team roping, including Riata winner Sundae Rebel and Dakota Kirchenschlager’ Mayhemm, who’s already won $41,000.
Lot 544| Late Night Mistress
2020 smokey black mare, Late Night Stopper x Spooks Melody by Grays Starlight
This might be the ultimate find in the Solo sale, and before you get mad at us for highlighting her and blowing one you were secretly planning to bid on… yes, everyone is asking about her already. We didn’t spoil anything for you.
She’s by NRHA Open Finalist Late Night Stopper and out of a Grays Starlight daughter who won $34,106 herself. She’s 15.2, smokey black, 1,263 lbs and she’s been in head horse training with Miles Baker. And if that all isn’t enough, she sells with three embryos by 2024 AQHA World Champion Pride And Joyy.
