Colt-Starting Series: Shoulder Control

In the latest video of Miles Baker’s colt-starting series, Baker rides a green 4-year-old by their stud, Show Me The Buckles, and talks through how he wants their shoulders to move and why.

The ability to control a horse’s shoulders is critical in any discipline, but it’s especially important in head and heel horses who need to react to the cow athletically. In this video, Baker demonstrates the kind of shoulder control he reinforces in his colts and explains how that carries over further into their training.
