The Analysis
For the last three years, The Team Roping Journal has compiled a listing of the top 15’s main mounts. Doing so helps breeders, owners, buyers and sellers make more informed decisions in their horse programs, and it’s a project about which we’re very passionate. A few takeaways:
- Luke Brown’s DM Jet Off (double-bred Jet Deck), Andrew Ward’s Cole E Man (Okey Dokey Dale and Streakin La Jolla) and Chad Masters’ MRQH Spectacular Guy (Frenchman’s Guy and Truckle Feature) are the horses with the most run on their papers.
- Playgun makes a big appearance this year, gracing the pedigrees of Nelson Wyatt’s WYO Pay N Play (crossed with a Dash For Cash mare) and Jade Corkill’s Sixes Posse (crossed with a Mr. Sun O Lena mare).
- Dual Spark has three offspring on the list: Joseph Harrison’s CSR Dual Boonlite and Lula Dual as well as Travis Graves’ Dual Chip.
- The four mares on the list: Cody Snow’s Ima Fresnos Dee, Harrison’s Lula Dual, Junior Nogueira’s Apaches R Hali and Paul Eaves’ Docs Genuine Gunslinger.
- Levi Lord’s Poco Sparta King is the oldest horse on the list. He’s 23.
- The average age for the head horses on the list is 13.75 years old. The average age for the heel horses is 12.09 years old.
- The youngest horses on the list are Harrison’s CSR Dual Boonlite and Jake Long’s The Star Pepto—both 7 years old.
