Alpha Reproduction has been on a fast-track since it began just four years ago, when owner/operator Trey Hurst translated years of doing IVF in cattle to help a client with a recipient mare.

“It was the same basis as cattle and I was honestly a little tired of that,” Hurst said. “We went from 10 recips the first year, then 20 the next.”

“Now, we’re here and I don’t even know how, but it was quick, fast and in a hurry,” he laughed.

Alpha offers comprehensive mare management services including breeding, foaling, embryo transfer and ICSI opportunities to support advanced reproductive programs. Their recip mare options allow clients to use lease mares already on hand or haul in their own.

Alpha’s team consists of Hurst, his wife Brecklyn and two staffers.

“I feel like we get a lot more done with the right people,” he said, adding that Timber Creek Veterinary Hospital, led by Dr. Greg Veneklasn and his team, are on board to ensure the highest level of care as well.

Alpha relocated to 150 acres in Canyon in May 2025.

“We’re finishing the first part of the facility now with another barn going up next year,” Hurst said. “The sky is the limit.”
