Dear Roper,

With more than five years as The Team Roping Journal, it occurs to me that, perhaps, I’ve failed at introducing the team that produces the tens of thousands of words you read and the dozens of videos you see each month.

G.R. Schiavino, aka Gabby, hired on with American Cowboy nine years ago and has been with TRJ since its 2017 start. Originally from Baltimore, she’s resided in the West since 2004. As senior managing editor, Gabby keeps our print and digital coverage trains on track. She’s our clutch writer and proofreader and, over the last six years, she’s learned the sport of team roping and its subculture flawlessly.

Art director Eva Young has been with our company—in all its iterations—for 15 years, and she brought to TRJ the style she made a staple at American Cowboy. From Philadelphia, Eva devoted many years to New York City’s fashion industry before seamlessly learning the aesthetics of the West and using them to create our brand’s look and feel. She designed TRJ from the start, and she functions as much as our project manager as our designer.

Lauren Feldman is also an AC graduate who now manages our digital presence. When you see new articles or videos posted online, she’s making that magic happen. She’s from California, originally, but made a home in Colorado 15 years ago. She helps keep our articles legible, while also providing her expertise to the Working Ranch Cowboys Association and National Ranching Heritage Center.

Pennsylvanian Casey Allen, from my hometown of Vandergrift, and Lillian Kent, originally from Erie but long-living in Texas, are our two newest additions. They keep the websites buzzing along—and our TikTok feed fly. These two are likely who you’ll meet if you see someone snapping photos or conducting at-event interviews. Casey also leads the charge on our newest creation, Barrel Racing Magazine, and Lillian’s name appears across all of our projects as our pinch-hitting writer.

Then, of course, Kendra Santos, the hall-of-fame-caliber rodeo reporter who started Spin To Win in 1997, still brings all the great stories you’ve come to expect.

So, after our biggest issue ever last month, I thought it worth letting you know the staff of superheroes who crank this out month in and month out.

See you at the Cinch Timed Event Championship this month—with Kendra and Casey, of course.
