Arizona’s Top 10 Watering Holes

After a long day of team roping under the Arizona sun, there’s nothing better than sipping on an ice-cold beer or savoring a tasty cocktail. We’ve searched the cowboy bar scene from Wickenburg to Coolidge and everywhere in between for the Top 10 Watering Holes that are sure to satisfy your thirst for great drinks, live music, dancing and more.

Buffalo Chip

In the heart of Cave Creek, the Buffalo Chip Saloon (480-488-9118; buffalochipsaloon.com) is a great choice for a night out, with bull riding every Wednesday and Friday, lawn games, live music both indoors and outdoors with large dance floors for two-stepping, Texas-style barbecue and the best liquor and beer in town.

Meanwhile, Wickenburg’s Rancho Bar 7 (928-684-2492; ranchobar7.net) welcomes ropers with live music on the patio all winter long, along with games inside and outside, from shuffleboard to cornhole, and a great selection of alcoholic beverages.

A campfire, steakhouse, and concert venue all in one is the supreme combination offered at San Tan Flat (480-882-2995; santanflat.com) in Queen Creek. It’s the perfect place for you to spend a night by the fire and listen to live music nearly every night of the week while enjoying a wide variety of libations.

There is no better place than Peaks & Valleys (623-434-8370; facebook.com/peaksandvalleysaz) in Desert Hills to welcome team ropers with its party vibes and plentiful entertainment, including live music, dancing, a pool table and drinks aplenty.

Located on 12 acres in Morristown, Dillon’s Western Trails Ranch (623-866-3365; westerntrailsranch.com) offers a unique atmosphere. Tasty drinks with live music ranging from country to rock-n-roll tribute bands are offered daily, while bull riding is every first Saturday of the month, plus team roping jackpots every Thursday through Sunday.

Another great Cave Creek bar is Harold’s Corral (480-488-1906; haroldscorral.com), which features everything from honky-tonk dancing to live bands and pool tables, as well as a great selection of beer and liquor with a family-style dining experience that you do not want to miss. 

The Palomino Club (928-684-4442; palominoclubwickenburg.com) is one of the favorite spots for ropers in Wickenburg. It offers a fun atmosphere where you can eat, dance and enjoy live music every weekend while sipping on cold beer or delicious cocktail in a friendly atmosphere.

Visit Roadrunner Restaurant & Saloon (623-465-9903; roadrunnerrestaurantandsaloon.com) in New River for a great atmosphere, complete with live music, dancing, pool tables, bonfires, and weekly bull riding, not to mention a wide selection of liquors and beers to enjoy.

San Tan Flat

Located at the South Buckeye Equestrian & Event Center in Buckeye, The Tack Room Saloon & Pool Hall (623-691-6900; southbuckeye.com) is a popular hangout with a pool table, live music and dancehall. They serve tasty food and a variety of beers and cocktails.

In Coolidge, the Gallopin’ Goose (520-723-0300; facebook.com/gallopingoose) is a historic honky-tonk that has plenty of cocktails and beer, karaoke and live music, as well as a full arena for team roping and bull ridings, making it a perfect place for ropers to have a good time.
