The week before the USTRC hosts its national finals, the American Cowboy Team Roping Association puts on a big show of its own?the Wrangler Professional’s Choice ACTRA National Finals.
The event, held in Reno, Nev., at the Reno Livestock and Events Center, will run from Oct. 15-22. It will pay out an estimated $900,000 in paychecks as well as $235,000 in awards, including two Maverick trophy trailers and 44 Scott Thomas saddles.
Last year, over 5,000 teams competed for more than $875,000 in cash and prizes.
Entries for the Wrangler Professional’s Choice National Finals close the day prior to or the day of each roping.
Last year, the Super 7 roping paid the most, with Dusty Worsham and Rikki Perezchica earning $7,928 apiece for turning 5 steers in 38.14 seconds. Entry fees for the Super 7 this year are only $85 a roper.
