“The PRCA is doing a good job of getting more added money, and it’s getting easier to win $90,000, which is really great for us,” Hall laughed. “I mean, as a group, we’re really not that wealthy of individuals, so getting to win some money and not having to win eight rounds to win that much is just such an incredible feeling. But I’m super tickled.”

Hall and Profili went third to last in a tough round that already saw Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp go 3.6, followed by a matching time from J.C. Yeahquo and Buddy Hawkins.

“We called it in the back,” Profili, who was the 2023 Resistol Rookie of the Year, said. “We were like, ‘They were 3.6’ and we were like, ‘Oh let’s be 3.5and let’s do it and see what happens.’ Then somehow we were 3.5.”

“We said that, and then as soon as I walked off, I thought to myself, ‘Do not get caught up with trying to beat them‚ just try to get out and turn the cow and then just Lord willing,'” Hall chimed in. “What a blessing.”

Hall had good karma on his side, too. In Round 5, he’d told on himself for roping just one horn and a buckle when the flagger initially missed it.

“I had a few people text me today,” Hall said. “They said ‘good for you’ for doing that, and it is just wild. I was raised by some good parents, but it never crossed my mind not to. I was mad that I messed up, not that I had to tell on myself. That was the natural part of it.”

Hall and Profili used every ounce of their top horsepower for Round 6. They’d drawn the steer Cody Snow and Hunter Koch were 4.0 on in Round 3, and Hall was in the barrier on his 13-year-old gelding Flipped On Henry (by Streakin Flipmia out of Henretta by Big Horn Doc). Profili, on 7-year-old mare Gunnabeanangel by Gunnatrashya out of Roosters Tivio by Gallo De Cielo, threw fast, and their run finished quick to be 3.5 and get the win.

Wade and Thorp widened their lead in the PRCA world standings in Round 6, splitting second with their 3.6 and winning $23,363.69 a man, pushing their 2024 NFR earnings to $134,425.23 and their total on the year to $326,162.79 a man. In 2023, they won the gold buckles with $308,057.17 and $325,284.44, respectively. They’re currently ninth in the average race with 14.60 on four head.
